I see Parra have signed Poore from Saints and Shakleton from Roosters today. McDonnell better get his skates on if we want to be proactive for next seasons recruitment....................

Oh let me guess, the usual dregs shopping and overpriced contracts will be our lot yet again?????????

Until the finer points of Morris' new contract are established, and the impact it has on next year's cap, it's understandable that WT are currently holding off on their recruiting.

if morris goes we should have enough cash to buy two 7 year olds from Waikikamukow.

I wonder if Teflon will clone Morris and have 12 x Morris playing with Marshall at half and an interchange of Payne, Halatau, Gibbs & Lawrence. That covers all his favourites and removes the need to think of other options..................

But back to the real world- yeah, sure looks like Morris is to be offered a new contract extension.

well to be honest, given the salary cap issue, i'm not so sure. If morris is to say he'd have to be offered quite a reduction in salary, while that should definitely be the case, I can't see it happening

How can we have salary cap issues with about 10 players off contract, and JB shifting clubs mid contract,it has to be a smoke screen.

I dont mind Morris and have nothing against him (except his lack of attacking capability)- I hope a move to ESL might be in the offing for him but IF an offer is made to him I trust it will be for a lot less than he is on now.

I suspect all the players may have to take some form of a salary reduction and, maybe the whole lot of the current crop of players with contracts expiring end of this season released, and a couple of longer term underperformers released eg Gibbs & Payten for WT to be able to recruit a name player or two and fill the void with up and comers from lower grades.

I dont think anyone in the expiring contracts lot have made any great claim to stay on - Morris included. A few borderline though- Morris (if the money right) & Galea. I'm excluding Collis from consideration as I have been told he is off to greener pastures at seasons end.

Like everything to be fair to people we should tell them now and give them a chance to find other clubs. If Teflon is serious (ha, ha) about the taps on shoulder-now is the time to tell them- either perform in the next few weeks or esle dont wait until the end of season and dregs shopping yet agan.

Its all gone on Farah and Marshall- I was always worried we concentrated too much money on keeping the two of them. Plus we have the usual paying too much for average players..............

It really dosnt matter what cap space we have, no class player will come to us. Lets face it the the class players get offered plenty of bucks from the better clubs, so why take a little more to get smashed week in and week out. We are still looking for the impossible--a 28 year old journey man who has play for ten years at 7 different clubs for fifty FG games and turns it all around over night and becomes a international--Dream on Sheens

It's all a smokescreen. We're actually signing Batista. He is coming off his WWE contract and the end of the year and is said to be looking at options elsewhere. Although he has had an injury plagued career, the 38 year old is really ready to fire.

Thats the bit that Teflon and the WT board do not get- success breeds success- winning the 2005 premiership gave us a great opportunity to build on things- a young up and coming cluib, new ideas, bright future- a club players would want to come to.

What did we do? We fumbled it and dropped the ball- 2006-07 should have been a golden time with players wanting to come to us. Instead we retained players that were underperforming, brought in no new talent despite loosing players, got the reputation for being cheapskates, contracting dregs and no names, muleheaded coaching staff (Teflon and Simmons) and playing favourites amongst the player roster. Any wonder we are in the mess???

I'm just worried that Sheens will sign Morris to another three year deal before he gets pushed.. :)lol: i know).

It could be his farewell gift to the club

Todd Lowrie, Josh Cordoba and Weller Hauraki appear to be looking for a new home. ;-)

Tim's fascination with backrowers may see him leaning towards them.

todd lowrie is a sheens type of player. small backrower, doesnt run hard, no real skill however considered 'versatile'

The days of cloning little Johnny Morris's are over get ready for Taniela Tuiaki clones.

Six of the seven Wests under 16 players selected by Tim for the junior tiger cubs program are islander boys.

The odd man out was Jake Townsend but he did played for NSW under 16's in Melbourne last week so he kinda picked himself.
