I think it was a work although I am not 100% sure. I think it's a scheme to get people on Cena's side, etc, however The Rock seemed a little flustered after Cena left.

Given how poorly Rock's promo was going, it wouldn't surprise me if Vince had Cena rush out there to salvage it.

I kind of get that feeling too Marshall.

But there were definitely some ad-libs thrown in there by Cena that caught The Rock off-guard. Rock really wasn't prepared and his reaction was so un-Rock like, which really supported Cena's argument. The Rock would generally shrug off those suggestions like you were the dumbest person alive but he didn't, he just rambled.

Which was pretty much par for the promo. Aside from exposing Cena's 'I fight for the people at the back' line, which he really didn't nail as well as he could have, it was a very odd promo.

For instance that whole Kung Pow Bitch line. It started so well talking about Cena being a phoney, a private school boy claiming to be the Dr. of Thuganomics who lived out in the streets but then it went into this really strange territory about Chinese Food and how he's going to make Cena a Kung Pow Bitch. It just didn't link up too well.

The rest of the promo wasn't that strong, calling Cena a woman, homo or weak was just plain weak. I know it's The Rock's bread & butter but he used to be able to tie it so well to his target and his rhythmn could essentially sell you on everything and make you believe it was a much better line than it really was.

In the end, I just thought the promo hinged a lot on The Rock's celebrity and who he was in wrestling as opposed to the actual content which was just fluff.

This pointed out to me how good Cena could be as a heel.

anyways, I LOVED the back and forth between Jericho and Punk, oh man this is going to be the best feud for ages.

mini-mark out moment to see cena own the rock inside of 90 seconds, no fumbling his words, no catchy lines or phrases, come out, "shoot", hit the target and walk away

dwayne was left blah-blah-blah-blah-ing, tried to save it with an "if yaaaaaaa smmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllll..." but the damage was done.

john - 1
dwayne - 0

Agreed. The fool doesn't realise that the fans have been telling him for YEARS what he needs to do to get them back on side.

They booed him at WM22 against Triple H. They booed him at One Night Stand when RVD won the title. They boo him now. He got some cheers/respect from what he said to The Rock. (All he did though was disarm everything The Rock said. Anyone can do that. The Undertake HAS done that, but it's not the way to do things in a fued. Kayfabe and all. Although Cena's comment about The Rock not caring if WWE closed down is just a lie seeing as The Rock's father and Grandfather were in the company. Cena just making up shit to try and bad mouth The Rock)

I just loved it how he bagged The Rock for doing something Cena just doesn't know how to do. Have the crowd in the palm of his hand.

The Rock had a great point. The crowd booed him when he was Rocky Maivia, they booed him against Austin and they booed him against Hogan. Rock did something about it and became a much much bigger star because of it. Cena just won't.

And lets face it. His gimmick just sucks.

I only started watching again because of The Rock. Ill stop when he leaves. But if Cena turns heel, I may be just a little bit more interested.

yeah sure, anyone can do it. maybe that's because 99.9% of the rocks promos are schoolyard insults and social media references, even I could tear that apart and I have stage fright like a motherf**ker lol

fruity pebbles, kung-pow bitch, missing balls and ladyparts? yeah this guy is one of the greats :lol::lol:

the rock treaded (?) water for 18 minutes before cena came out and saved the segment, showed whose balls are really missing.

I'm probably alone on this, but I'm pretty disappointed with the storyline for Punk/Jericho.

It's fine for a preliminary Wrestlemania match but considering the guys involved I just can't get into it. I believe my problem is Jericho. I rate Jericho and I've gone in here and supported him a few times, but I never associated the 'best in the world' gimmick with Jericho.

As a character, Jericho lost way too many matches to be considered such and unlike say a Ric Flair or a Terry Funk, didn't have that list of accomplishments to balance it. No one really past him the torch until it was too late and even when he did finally go over a big name, the torch would be extinguished extremely quickly. Yes, he was the first undisputed champion, but it's like Miz beating Cena @ WM, it doesn't mean as much as it should because it was never treated that importantly. He won the belt, and then proceeded to become Stephanie's bitch. Another proud moment in the annals of WWE history.

And as a performer, I've never considered him the best. He's certainly in a Top 100 list, but he's nothing more than padding. A guy who has earned a lot of respect but was never ever held as highly as a Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels or a Bret Hart.

Speaking of them, if this was the same storyline but with Punk facing either one of them (or even Kurt Angle, who at least as a character can make a fair claim) then I'd be all over it. But I just can't completely embrace it with Jericho.

Plus, the whole January 2 hype video meaning nothing bit really annoyed me.

That promo stunk, it was a long winded HHH-esque promo that didn't go anywhere.

Cena is right about one thing, Dwayne Johnson sucks. People want to see The Rock, designer shirt, designer sunglasses and raised eyebrow.

The vignettes were well done, and created an emotional investment for the fans who were following the storyline. There was no conclusion, or payoff, for that investment other than getting trolled. That is essentially like having creative spit in your face, it doesn't help Jericho to get over, it makes the fans more reserved about investing emotionally in your product. Shithouse booking.

Oh Rocky, Rocky, Rocky. You certainly have the WWE fans in the palm of your hand. Cena was right about that.

By the way, I found Cena's missing balls... they were with Julia Gillard. She has them just like she has the balls of all the men who voted for her on Monday!!!

One thing Rocky forgot to mention... he never said "Finally the Rock has come back to Portland" - he sort of left that one out. That's his signature to beginning a promo. Also notice how the fans cheered when he said his custom "Trail Blazing" - it's because they were broadcasting from Portland Oregon, home of the Trail Blazers in the NBA.

Pretty much my thoughts as well

Cena bores me, in all honesty this feud bores me. After a series of insults, seeing Cena walk out and smile like an idiot like he always does when insulted bores me.

Only watching to see the Rock babble. The promo had no point, it was long winded, served no real purpose, but you just don't get audience interaction/reaction like that any more so I found it entertaining.

After Cena's inevitable win I'll tune out again and just read headlines until something interesting happens.

My only hope is that the Kane storyline, leading into the Rock match is what tips Cena over the edge, basically embracing the hate so much he can't go back.

Question to those who wanted Cena to turn heel circa 2006-2010. Who would have been your top babyface?

I thought the Rock said in his promo that he'd never been to (perform in) Portland... bit hard to say finally you've come back to somewhere you'd never been?
