What I've been wondering is, what was going through his head over the course of the summer break and pre-season post the drug test... I wonder if he was shitting himself the whole time and just waiting for what transpired yesterday to happen, or did he think maybe he'd got away with it? Obviously I don't know how these tests work.

Does anyone know if you get something back from ASADA regardless of result? Like, do they flick you a text saying "You're all clear" once you come back negative. Or do they only get in touch if you produce a positive result? You'd have to think it's the latter otherwise he would surely have known something was up when he did a test in November and received nothing the whole time...

Then again, could just be a dumbarse who barely remembers his home address and forgot all about the drug test he did back in November.

Just speculating here, but I'm under the impression he thought he was in the clear. Especially with the recent bragging about getting faster etc.

I don't think you'd get a result back if it were negative either as there's always a chance that the results aren't 100% accurate.

If Wada comes up with 4 years based on the Olympics then the NRL needs to say we aren't in the Olympics so 4 years as the punishment is based on irrelevant considerations. So unless Wada directs their attention to the NRL specifically and the NRLs specific circumstances then they should have a very limited say.

I assume an Olympian can still train privately and so could keep their skills up to a large extent, but an NRL player missing 4 years is totally done regardless of training.

18 months is plenty.

As I mentioned, for the NRL to receive any government support they need to abide by the WADA code as enforced by ASADA.

If they do not do this, all drug testing will need to be privately funded, and any government funds towards NRL projects will be removed.

Who knows - but Sandor Earl is back with the Storm after his suspension, all be it he's had bad luck with injuries since. And Big Dell came back after his 2 year suspension, successfully.

Xerri has got the "advantage" of age on his side, those guys were a fair bit older than him and made it back. I've got no doubt he can do it, but only if he truly wants it.

Good point re Earl and it Xerri has a lot more talent. Going to be a hard slog for the young man.

18months is not a light punishment. It’s almost shattering. It’s way worse than you would get for a spear tackle.

Testosterone has been banned since the 70's it is a well known cheat drug. Your claim increased speed, strength, stamina and recovery time is not a bg advantage in league is ridiculous and not at all true. There is no reason he shouldn't get the full punishment, even if it was unknowingly taken he still should get four years. Giving him a lesser sentence is not going to happen unless he wants to give someone up. I have no sympathy at all for an athlete caught using testosterone.

Surely he would have been thinking I am in spot of bother, after being tested. Makes me wonder whether there was more to the 'minor' shoulder injury story that kept him out of the first 2 rounds.

This kid is a cheat, who has taken opportunities from more deserving players, ruined his name, damaged his club and the game that provided him with so much. He will forever be known as a drug cheat and imo should not be allowed to play again.

You already said that.

Imagine finally getting your chance at a life long dream and allegedly doing this in the same year.

I remember seeing a video of him when he found out he was set to make his debut and he couldn't contain his emotion. Just 8 months later and he's gone and ruined it.

If true, there might be questions over his pre-NRL years..maybe he did everything he could to make the big time?

Salary cap cheating is worse.
Clubs should sit out multiple years.

I get that but spilt seconds aren’t making that much difference in rugby league. I am not saying he shouldn’t be punished just that he shouldn’t get punished the same as a swimmer, runner, cyclist, weight lifter.

split seconds don't make much difference aye?

the difference between mediocre and elite athletes in any sport is the ability to produce force as fast as possible. the difference is split seconds.

Just as you already said he deserves a lightly punishment and the countless other dribble you post on here, are you the only one allowed to repeat yourself?

Yes. I am the only one making sensible rational posts and I have to respond to a bunch of old men with too much estrogen in their systems.

If this was the case then who administered it? The club doctor? That would put the sharks in a bit of strife again and would warrant a test of every player

Yeah for sure, to be clear im not saying it was unknowingly taken at all. I was just trying to make the point for arguments sake that there really isnt any wriggle room for what he had in his body, you get caught with that testosterone in your body and you should get the full ban.
