Not saying it is Gallen at all, but this club just keeps getting caught up in these things. For example what kind of image and expectations are they showing their young players that after a drug scandal and salary cap cheating their coach eventually get banned from coaching, so Cronulla goes and employs one of the players who was suspended for the drug scandal as their new head coach. It just sends the wrong message to the young players coming through.Must be Gallen hey?

Well he better sue the AustralianExcept he wasn't.
CRONULLA chief executive Steve Noyce has revealed that ASADA has acknowledged the Sharks players who took banned substances are not drug cheats after the word “unknowingly” was included in the letters of confession they signed yesterday.
Noyce came out in defence of his players after five of them — NSW captain Paul Gallen, Anthony Tupou, Wade Graham, Nathan Gardner and John Morris — fell on their swords yesterday to bring an end to the 18-month drugs investigation into the club.
Gallen and co were among 17 players from the 2011 roster — the others are scattered across the NRL, in England or have retired — who were given until yesterday morning to accept a sweetheart deal over the use of illegal peptides CJC-1295 and GHRP-6.
The players were given until yesterday to accept a deal that would see their one-year bans backdated until November 23 last year, meaning they would miss only three games. The alternative was to fight it and risk more stress as well as a longer suspension.
Cronulla players have always maintained they never deliberately took anything illegal during sports scientist Stephen Dank’s stint at the club in 2011. ASADA was believed to be sympathetic towards them and that was reflected in yesterday’s documents.
“I guess I could understand some people thinking that (they’re drug cheats) but it’s important that people understand the words they used to describe them — it’s not what the evidence from ASADA suggested,’’ Noyce told The Weekend Australian.
“They’ve (the players) said all along that they didn’t believe that they had taken banned substances and as I understand from the ASADA evidence they made a strong point to say that — or use the word unknowingly.
“I think a fair-minded person will understand that for 18 months players have said the same thing, and ASADA have put million of dollars of resources and time and energy into it, and come up with the word unknowingly.”
The major concern now for the Sharks is whether other players start legal action against the club for failing in their duty of care. Former players Josh Cordoba, Isaac Gordon and Broderick Wright have already commenced civil action for damages in the NSW District Court.
“First things first,’’ Noyce said. “A number of young men had to make a decision that for a number of them chewed against their conscience about the stance they’ve made all along. I think any discussion about litigation or that is really inappropriate today.”
Noyce was confident the Sharks would endure. The past 18 months have been tough for the club with speculation the ASADA scandal could affect its financial health. Also, coach Shane Flanagan was banned for a year, caretaker coach Peter Sharp walked away this season as performances slipped on the field, and star five-eighth Todd Carney was sacked after a lewd image of him was posted on social media.

The players who were issued the show cause notices by ASADA under the politician Peter Dutton who is Sports Minister, and subsequently banned, were:
It was later announced by the National Rugby League that each of the players implicated in the supplements scandal would be barred from receiving awards at the 2014 Dally M Awards ceremony in September; in addition, captain Paul Gallen was also ruled ineligible for the Brad Fittler Medal for being the best performed New South Wales player during their victorious State of Origin series campaign.[30]

Five players further players alleged to have been involved in the program, but who were not part of the group which admitted guilt and accepted suspensions in 2014, were issued violation notices by the NRL on 8 March 2016. These players were: Colin Best, Paul Aiton, Ben Pomeroy, John Williams and Stuart Flanagan.[26] All five pleaded guilty, and were given twelve month suspensions; but, with backdating caused in part by the delays in prosecuting the case, the suspensions had already expired.

No they didn't difference is they replaced a guy who was suspended for cheating, with a guy who was suspended for drug use. Does that look good to you?Hang on did the Storm send the right message when they hired Sandor Earl?
I'm just saying it probably wasn't the best look and may have sent the wrong message to younger players like Xerri.I look forward to you break down of the following clubs:
You can fling mud at any club.
- Newcastle - multiple players found guilty and testing positive for prohibited substances.
- St George - Hiring the said coach suspended and then banned for knowingly breaching that suspension.
- Melbourne Storm - Rodney Howe and then signing Sandor Earl, salary cap breaches.
- Bulldogs - Coffs Harbour, Salary Cap breaches, and school girls.
No they didn't difference is they replaced a guy who was suspended for cheating, with a guy who was suspended for drug use. Does that look good to you?
It just makes sense right lolSo they replaced a guy suspended cheating for a guy suspended for cheating?
My apologies, my quick reference didn't list John Morris. I stand corrected.
Regardless, given he had played 300 games in the NRL, and ASADA acknowledged the players knew nothing about it, why would that be an issue?
I'm just saying it probably wasn't the best look and may have sent the wrong message to younger players like Xerri.
Yep, what a stupid sentence I just spewed out lolIt just makes sense right lol

No need to apologise mate, it's interesting, as I just checked and his name seems to have been removed from the list on some sources. Does anyone know if the original sources had it wrong? If this has since been corrected I will apologise for my posts.
I hope you have big bucketYep, what a stupid sentence I just spewed out lol
For a club recovering from having their coaches accreditation torn up yes I do.So you think a 300-gamer, who has gone through the ranks in Juniors being successful, has a Masters of Coaching, and maintains a healthy lifestyle is a bad message for young players?
Go away.
Sorry no not allI take it you're a saints supporter. You've got JDB and a junior facing one of the worst crimes in NRL history. Who was his first captain? "Fire up" Gasnier of course, who comes along to court to support him. What does that say about Saint's culture with women?
