True.. Gut feeling though is we will need to pack extra lube
I think we will be fine. Henderson, Matip and Coutinho will all start. Aside from Mane we will have a full strength team. These last 3 games have just reminded us how important Hendo really is, he completely holds the midfield together. He's a wonderful player for us. Matip is a huge return too, our defence is so much more solid with him in it.

I think a lot will depoend on how the team is set up. Do we go back to Couts on the left with Firmino in the centre? Who replaces Mane on the right? Those 2 important questions will be important.

Personally I think the answer to the first question is yes, as Firmono has looked lost at sea out on the left. As to who replaces Mane, I hope it is not Lallana. He seems far more effective polkaying deep in the centre. Could Origi be the player for the right wing? He has played there before and he has pace, something which we lacked with the side picked against Southampton.

Yes, we do put Firmino back into the centre, and we do place Origi on the right. Coutinho and Firmino are a deadly combination when they are played together in those positions. Firmino has looked a little lost without Coutinho because he hasn't yet built up that same telepathic understanding with other team mates, as well as the fact he's forced out of his preferred central position if Phil is injured.

We have to win this game.

I know we said we have to win this game, but only because I had a feeling that if we didn't win then we were going to lose. But I would've taken a draw before the game, especially with the knowledge that Matip was out and Coutinho wasn't starting.

United overall had better share of meaningful chances but it still seemed like an even game, I loved how well we shut down Carrick. When he was subbed off I thought it would have been due to injury, but it just turned out Mourinho conceded that we had Carrick worked out. Which was important because when Carrick is playing well, United are playing very well.

Having Henderson back made such a big difference, composure largely returned to the midfield, and it simplified Can's role, despite that fact he was still guilty of some f**king dumb or badly executed passes.

Wijnaldum, please, spend a whole day and night pegging shots past Mignolet at Melwood. You really need it. You haven't scored anything other than a header and tap-in because your shooting is just woeful. With the chance to snatch the game at the death he just fkn pokes it De Gea's feet. Such a WTF moment.

Mignolet was a star, about time our goalkeeper is MOTM in this fixture.

TAA, due to nerves, was a little shaky but overall not bad at all, but clearly the kid has got talent.

A game when Coutinho is in the starting line-up cannot come soon enough. We really need the chemistry of Bob and Phil again.

What's with the non playing of Matip?
It's not like we only found out on the weekend that he wasn't going to the African Nations.
I find it hard to believe somebody in a multi million dollar club wasn't aware this was going to happen.
Heard them mention something about FIFA not making a ruling so they didn't risk playing him on the telecast.

Another thing I couldn't understand Klopp having a go at the Manure long ball.
A few of our blokes didn't mind hoofing it out.
Seemed to me like they had much more possession than us so having a dig at them using the long ball didn't make much sense.

Jack Napier and I read this rumours site that gives very credible information, one of the editors on the site, who knows basically everything, had this to say about it...

{Ed002's Note - You cannot derive this from what The AP was told Benny. The Secretary has to have informed the country and FIFA of the player's retirement from International football or injury to make him ineligible for selection. There is nothing here to say that has been done. These are simply the rules - no more. If they failed to do this then the player is ineligible for the amount of time that his country are in the tournament plus five days. If however they did do this and had not had an acknowledgement from his country, the Secretary should have chased the country's FA and informed FIFA that was happening - then the onus would be on the country. There is nothing in what The AP were told to draw any conclusions from.

I could be wrong but that sounds to me like we never followed up.
That's a bad admin error.
Soon find out if Matip plays the midweek cup game.

Swansea get 3 corners and either score or look dangerous on all of them.
We have 6 or 7 and never look likely.
We were always going to look good on those nice sunny days with a fast track.
Get into a nice cold winters day with that defence and it's a different game.
On tactics (before the game)they had one really tall striker who looked their only threat.
Why wasn't Matip on if he was available(I mean from the start not with 1 min to go)?
Ok I'd never select Lovren in a Liverpool shirt ever(he has always looked more likely to score a goal than stop one to me)but it's a massive mismatch for him to get anywhere near that Swansea striker in the air.He should've been hooked after the first goal and Matip brought on then.

Way over achieved to start the year. Same old Lolpool
Do you actually follow LFC or just come on after a shit result to say i told you so/lolpool?

Serious form slump happening at the moment. Klopp needs to fire a rocket up the midfield and defences ass. Can has been shocking this season.

Can has been shocking but that is Can's level, to me he is not doing anything far different to what he typically does. He only excels when his job is extremely simplified, and I think the team can do with players better than that. For all his natural 'talent', what the hell has he actually learnt since he became a reds player? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! He's still a legend in his own eyes yet above his eyes is still as slow as he ever was. The guy just isn't cut out for it. I was patient with him but it's time for Can to go. Liverpool is not his level.

Having shitty defenders doesn't help, but neither does Klopp's bad team selections like this. Whenever possible, Lallana should be starting every f**king game in centre midfield. That is patently his best position, and the midfield patently looks and works better when he is in it. Yet at the moment we have a f**king donkey occupying that space while Lallana is being WASTED out on the wing. Klopp, Lallana is not a f**king winger! We tried that with Lallana for 2 seasons and he was so bad at it we wanted him sold in the pre-season! f**k Emre Can off, put Lallana back in midfield, and put Origi out on the right while Mane is away. Origi may be in average form but when in form his hold up play is good, he is fast, and he knows how to whip in a good ball. Not as good as Mane, but good enough for a couple games. If Klopp just did that it would provide so much more attacking balance, and it would instantly improve the midfield back to what it was, because Emre Can is like an anchor slowing everything down, sadly not the kind of midfield anchor that you want. As well as improved attack, with Lallana's presence the midfield protection of the back 4 is fine. Lallana knows how to press properly and this helps provide the good protection. But Can is nowhere near as smart of a footballer and the team suffers.

And why didn't he start Matip?! How f**king ready does the guy need to be?! If he was ready to go for United save the FIFA nonsense, then why is he not ready to go for Swansea at home? Does he seriously need a few days preparation with the whole team? It's not like we only just bought him a couple days ago! If the guy is fit, then f**king start him!

We won't win anything until we get 2 new Centre Backs and a left back.
We won't win anything whilst Jordan Henderson plays DM. I like Hendo and this isn't a bag on him, but like Stevie when he went into that role, on the ball they are great, off it, they are terrible.

We need a World Class LB, a CB on the same level as Matip and competition for Clyne as he has turned into Mr Ordinary. TAA is not ready yet.

Awful game, very frustrating.

We have conceded 2 goals combined in 4 games against Chelsea, United (x2), City, Everton and yet we ship 3 against the worst team in the league.
