Allen played a nice role in the position he was brought to play in. He is one of the players that I feel still has a future under Klopp, but I wouldn't be sad to see him go.

There was also a lot of talk Kolo was going to Lazio, but I dont think that will happen now, I think we will sign a pre contract though.

Andrea Ranocchia being lined up for a 15mil deal. Decent CB playing for Inter. Inter want to sell to raise funds for other signings. Klopp tried to sign him at Dortmund but he chose Inter.
Neven Subotic on loan. No option to buy. Joel Matip pre contract getting sorted. Schalke refuse to let him come to us this window though.

Ilori, Kent and Ojo to be re-called.

Klopp looking to make 2-3 permanent signings and a few loan deals to help us out of this injury crisis.

Anyone with time on their hands, read the latest Lallana interview. Doesn't talk about his talents. Actually talks about what is going on with the team.

I've never seen Ranocchia play, but dude, I've only heard bad stuff about his ability. Apparently error-prone.

As for Subotic, he is injury-prone. I don't understand buying an injury-prone player to solve a centre-back injury problem.

Ranocchia is decent.

And injury prone for Subotic?

08/09 played 2970 league minutes over 33 games
09/10 played 3060 league minutes over 34 games
10/11 played 2773 league minutes over 31 games
11/12 played 2206 league minutes over 25 games
12/13 played 2241 league minutes over 25 games
13/14 played 827 league minutes over 10 games
14/15 played 2271 league minutes over 28 games
15/16 has only played 2 games as behind Hummels and Sokratis.

Hardly injury prone.

most first choice top cbs in the bundesliga play 45-50 games a season.

subotic did his acl in 2013 and has ongoing back trouble recently

what happened before his acl is irrelevant.

I suggest you re-read the minutes over LEAGUE games. They play 34 LEAGUE games per season. Those are his minutes with Dortmund over his LEAGUE games. They are all relevant.

I did. What happened before shows he didn't suffer injuries.

He tore is ACL in the 13/14 season and came back and played 28 league games.

Your point is redundant.

Speaking of injuries Chris, what was the fitness training like under Rodgers? Relatively non-existent? I think a big reason why we keep getting injured is because Rodgers did not train the players hard enough, hence they are not fit enough to consistently cope with Klopp's physically demanding game plan.

Last season, it took Spurs the whole year to be physically up to speed with Pochettino's similarly hard working playing method, and their performances and injury record suffered along the way. This year they are reaping the rewards.

I've heard Rodgers was less about fitness and more about fluffing around with finesse and technique, also hence why this team is generally so submissive against the bully teams like the Hammers and Watford.

Nail on the head there mate.

Rodgers only pressed because Suarez allowed it. Once he left, Rodgers was able to go back to the type of football he wanted to play. Possession based, death by football.

Klopp has come in at full throttle and some of the soft tissue injuries may be caused by that, but that would not be the only cause.

Read the Lallana article.

Souness came out saying that Klopp flogs the players in training and both Lallana and Klopp went on the counter saying that the schedule is not letting them train, only recover.

They probably need to find the balance of stretching, yoga ect and a decent amount of sprint training.

Climate also doesn't help.

But, it is very interesting to see the pattern of when Klopp started his gegen pressing at Dortmund to now.

Some big clubs have successful transfer committee's because they have experienced people at the table.

The problem for us, is our CEO is an accountant, we don't have a well renowned head scout, and FSG have 3 of their boys with the fingers in the pie.

All transfers at every club go through a committee like process, but the manager gets the final say if the price is right.

We need the same thing, but we need a DoF to replace Ayre, and we need to scout some better head scouts.

We also need to broaden our search outside of England for right now talent.

almost missed this one...

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/jul/03/premier-league-transfers-who-decides-club-buys

in summary who's in charge of identifying targets:

arsenal - the coach

chelsea - a technical director + coach

man city - a technical director

united - the vice chairman

spurs - a technical director + head of recruitement

bayern, madrid + barcelona - a technical director

in summary, the big clubs with ambition don't run a democratic society to get shit done. pissy little mid table clubs do.... that's what you're aspiring our club to do.

I just read Lallana's quotes on ESPNFC, and he's right. But above the article there was a video of Craig Burley defending Jurgen Klopp from people like Souness, and he was spot on. He said,

"How dare Jurgen Klopp come into England and expect players to be fit!" Dan Thomas played devil's advocate and asked, "but should they be expected to be fit enough for that style of football?"
And to paraphrase what Burley responded, "If they aren't fit enough for that style of football then why are they paid 100K a week?"

burley is the only one of the panel that makes any sense, the rest of them know they have a camera on them, including nicol

The one who annoys me the most is Aly Moreno. He's a very smart guy and very well spoken considering English is not his first language, but some of his opinions are just annoying. For example, "for managers, it's not about producing good performances, it's about getting results". No it's not, and Marcotti tried to tell him this, but Moreno just tried to shout him down. I like Hislop too but he's f**king fickle, changes his mind every week. Nicol isn't bad, but he always gets himself caught in embarrassing dead ends
