sturridge made the bench also and you have nothing to suggest that if a striker was needed, that balo would have came on instead of sturridge.

penny dropping isn't exactly a glowing endorsement, and you haven't acknowledged BR's most recent unprovoked comments on balo

Sturridge came on over Balotelli because he ultimately deserves it more. He's more proven. When it's 1-0 away at St.Mary's, who are you going to trust to help the team kill it off? Studge or Balo?

To me, 'the penny has dropped' means 'he's finally getting a hang of it'. His unprovoked comment seemed unusual, but who knows, maybe he was trying to keep Mario motivated. Who knows. It's all just an adapting process though. Mario will eventually get the complete hang of it if given the chance.

Even went so far as too say that Liverpool would be the best fit for him out of the interested clubs, should he gets his injury situation sorted. A some what positive post for once.

I think the clubs opinion on Mario hasn't changed since they were looking to offload him last transfer window. He plays for himself instead of the team and this is disruptive plain and simple. I'd love to see him lose that attitude and turn it around, just won't hold my breath waiting for it

Yeah, just had a look. The most positive post he's ever made about a blockbuster transfer link. Does he really play for himself? I find that he actually works hard most of the time. Sturridge is just as guilty sometimes with his selfishness in front of goal that often gets a bit overboard.

On the pitch he can put in a decent shift for the team no doubt but things like the penalty incident and the numerous amount of times he's stuffed up off the pitch while with us, to me shows he's still all about Mario.

Even the basic lack of respect for hierarchy with the penalty shows its about him first and then the team. This is all my opinion of course and who knows he might turn the corner and change but I don't see it happening with us unfortunately.

Dude I honestly think you're being way too harsh on Mario. When has he stuffed up off the pitch?

So you think Mario is the villain in penalty gate? I strongly oppose that. If there was any villain in that, it was Sturridge, and that's actually what the majority of fans have thought- which is good for Mario- considering that all the LFC fans have been witch hunting him this season.

I don't think he necessarily tries to make it about himself. Had that been Gerrard, he wouldn't have done it because he knows that Gerrard is a successful penalty taker. Considering that Mario is normally no.2, and that Henderson has never even scored a penalty in his life, Mario did what was best for the team, not just himself. It was poorly planned by Rodgers actually. Rodgers even said that Mario is number 2 when on the field, and I'm sure he's told that to Marion in the past. So I don't think BR was too fussed by it, he didn't want anything to do with it when Hendo looked over at him on the sideline. If Henderson missed, people would have asked why Mario didn't ask to take it. The guy can't win. People these days have been predisposed to be unimpressed with Mario, and when he does one little thing wrong, it's magnified way more than it should be.

i have noticed that the general fanbase has supported mario in the incident based on his track record for penalties.....but there's a reason fans don't run football clubs. leadership and structure are more important than anything else. everything you're basing your arguement is on the assumption that hendo misses the penalty. there is no certainty of that, and like any penalty the likelihood is that it will be converted rather than missed, watch our 15 all penalty shoot out in the cup competitions earlier in the year if in doubt.

Borini is just a determined little shit, he really wants to be given a chance to make it with us but facts are he's just not what we need. He's a great squad player in the sense that he'll give it everything he's got every time he's on the pitch. We should've bitten Stokes arm off for the 14-15m they offered for him last TW.

The problem with selling Borini was not what Stoke offered our cluib, as our club accepted the offer. The problem was Borini would not agree to terms with Stoke, and he also rejected a move to QPR when Liverpool accepted an offer for him.

I agree with you about his resolve and tenacity, but if the guy is under contract and won't go then what can you do?

Quite frankly I think the reason it blew up into an issue after the game was because of Steven Gerrard's comments on twitter to be honest.

Oh, ok

So defending like Chelsea is easy, as long as you don't have to do it very often?

Shootout time

Is Balo going to run back on and insist that he takes all the kicks?

f**king Lovren. Where's the receipt?

Rodgers' tactics were correct in the first half. We had numerous shots on target and came close to getting the away goal.

But he was too slow to respond to the shift in momentum in the second half.

don't blame lovren, ask yourself why sterling or someone other than a cb should have been taking the 5th penalty.....
