I think the delay is Inter want to bring in a replacement before letting him go, they're in negotiations with a few players. I don't think you should worry, it'll get done.

Treating transfers like it's baseball where players don't really get a choice. Who does your negotiations?

Kovacic is in the maybe basket at the moment apparently.

Haff our problems lie in the fact we treat clubs like it's still the 70's-80's and they should do whatever we want. It's an arrogance that has made us look stupid because our owners don't have a clue about European football. I think Ian Ayre does most of our dealing but he's not solely to blame. Constantly low balling sides with shit offers and expecting the to accept because "We are LFC" is not helping us at all.

Bit of talk about firmino but realistically it won't happen. He will go to Man U from all accounts.

Other then that, quiet on all fronts atm

One of the Manchester clubs will get him lolesi, he was City bound a few weeks back before Man U came in as well.

Yep agree mate, he could play anywhere across the front line and would work off Studge well but we have no chance when competing with the Manc clubs.

Sterling deal would've been done days ago if City weren't in trouble With FFP, we apparently won't agree to the payment terms so they'll need to offer a little more $$$ to get it done.

Well Jack, ESPN FC are reporting that Man City will meet the valuation LFC placed on Sterling. Just have to wait and see if it is true or not.

Hope he enjoys being a bench warmer for years to come. HE has been ill served by his agent with his agents comments and then his own public utterances. Have painted him as a complete knob.

City problem lies with the fact they have FFP issues. We want a bigger payment upfront and they can't do it right now, if they get rid of Dzeko and Jovetic then it'll be no problem.

Sterling is gone its just a matter of when now, the club has already brought in Milner as his replacement apparently. He has been seriously mislead by his ridiculous manager. Te manager has done nothing but try to get Raheem away from us, hope alot of other clubs see the way Aidy Ward has acted through this and tell the clown to stick it. He'll be city's problem soon thankfully.

City's problem is actually British quota, it makes sense for them to go after England's best, bale Kane sterling Barkley, and of course we should milk them for every cent

Their British quota is definitly an issue but the fact they are hampered by FFP restrictions means they can't just go out and grab the stars they want. Sterling would be gone already if they were free to spend spend spend. They can't outlay massive amounts without getting some players off their books first.

We apparently want a big upfront payment and city are trying to included alot of bonuses in the deal.

Outside of City what is the market for Sterling though? He's already 10-15 million pound over value at 35-40 million. There's no market on the continent, certainly not one willing to pay the "he's English" tax. The only other club is Chelsea but I doubt we are interested despite the agent driven speculation.

they've already made a statement that they're going to buy big, how FFP impacts that i don't care tbh, they've made a statement and aren't mugs

City's main problem is they have a reduced squad of 21 for next years champions league due to FFP infringements, yet they still need to maintain their HG quota for UCL. That's why they're madly going after english players and why they wanted to hold onto Milner so bad.

They'll offer 50 and Liverpool will accept. It seems shitty but provided Liverpool spend it well - Clyne, Bacca and Firmino, you could vastly improve the quality of your side for the income made off Sterling's departure.

Add a left back (Digne links) and another mid like Kovacic, with the sales of Borini/Lambert/Coates/Enrique, you could be looking at a netspend of 10mill, which fits well within the frugal nature of FSG (and the fact Liverpool are still limited by FFP).

a squad of

Mig
Clyne skrtel sakho digne
Milner Kovacic
Henderson Coutinho Firmino (these three rotating positions during a match)
Sturridge

and a bench makeup of: Bogdan, Lovren, Toure, Moreno, Can, Ibe, Markovic, Allen, Bacca, Balotelli

is pretty good depth and some decent options for limited spend.

Yeah, I know, liverpool are terrible at spending money and will throw 32 at Benteke and 15 at Delph lol.

But just illustrating it is possible for not a huge overally outlay to improve the squad significantly albeit while losing Sterling.

Who knows how much firmino and kovacic's club are asking, they could be asking for 25m each and there's your 50m already, bacca is another aspas type signing, we need proven quality, spend the 35-40 and get it.

rofl bacca is an aspas signing, I don't think so but I'll spare you the embarrassment of you admitting you don't know who he is.

in any case, price isn't necessarily indicative of quality - if it is, you'll have no problem spending 32 on benteke?

he's a colombian international who at age 28 finally had a decent season goals wise at top flight playing for an average side.

i rate benteke, he's a beast who'd thrive with better players around him. the only issue i have with paying 30m for him is that we could have paid have that a year or 2 earlier.
