Have to laugh at any Liverpool fan who continues to defend Dalglish.

Not only does he spend 100s of millions on absolute garbage, he has his side playing no better than Stoke City.

If he wasn't a club legend he would have got the arse months ago.

Hope they give him another 100mil in the summer, so he can sign some more British trash just for the lolz.

I defend Kenny because it is still too early to judge him. I was not one of the starry eyed fans claiming right at the beginning of the season that the planets had aligned once more and we would be carrying the EPL trophy off come seasons' end. From what I can gauge, this season has been a period for Kenny to work out what players the team needs, and who can go. Verdict is out on Andy Carroll, granted he has duffed more than a few easy shots and we spent way too much on him, but give him another season and he may begin to deliver consistently. He did get us into the FA Cup Final, to even my surprise.

Changing managers like toilet rolls may get you a Premiership, but it rarely produces a dynasty. Different club, different time, but it took Fergie 5 years to win silverware at Man United. By all reports, he was one loss away from being told not to let the door hit his arse back in 1990, then Manure won the FA Cup Final and his spot was safe. I kind of wish he'd lost that match :p Since NYD, Liverpool's form has been shit and I find it hard to believe I actually got to see them win a match at Anfield (granted it wasn't an EPL match, but still). Even if we lose every game from here to the end of the season, we are going to finish with one more item of silverware than Arsenal, Tottenham and one half of Manchester. Possibly another one on the way?

If we find ourselves in exactly the same position 9 months from now, then I would agree that Kenny's presence at Anfield should be restricted to the club museum (which is brilliant, might I ad!). Otherwise, as much as I want the club to rid its' "We only play well in the big games" mentality (itself a hangover from the Benitez days) I am patient for the time being.

Granted there is some bias, but this captures the point I am making, more or less...
Was a good read
The writer does have some points
It still doesn't exactly excuse where we're sitting on the ladder.. not all the blame should placed on KK but some has to for the very questionable purchases
He'll still be there next season so let's hope we make a step in the right direction and forget about the mess that was 2011/12

The fact that people still refer to him as simply "The King" is part of the problem.

I'm no Liverpool fan but how you could possibly want to give the guy another year is beyond me. I could understand asking for patience if a) you saw signs of improvement b) you saw progression but can you honestly tell me that Liverpool under KD have shown either this season? No way in the world.

The guy was given a massive amount of money and wasted it all signing dead beat British rubbish. Would you really trust him to to improve the side next season given his track record so far.

IMO Dalglish has proven beyond doubt this season that the modern game has passed him by. His embarassing defense of Suarez during the Evra case proves he doesn't have what it takes to keep things under control off the park, while his tactics on the park are just as bad as his mediocre, overpriced signings.

Roy Hodgson copped loads of criticism and was rightly sacked yet his Liverpool team were miles ahead of KD's. IMO Liverpool has been frustrated with its post-1990 drop off and continues (as with Houllier and Benitez) to get off on loyalty and sentimentality too much for its own good while being bogged down by way too much player mediocrity.

Benitez was, arguably, hampered by all the rubbish during the Hicks/ Gillett ownership saga. In regards to the Suarez affair, Kenny would have spoken up more but his hands were tied. The one-sidedness of the entire thing is a disgrace.

This current side is suffering from its' recent inability to play well against teams they should easily account for. In the Cup comps, however, they are showing good form. If any club is showing too much loyalty and sentimentality towards somebody, surely Arsenal should be under the radar? 7 seasons and counting since they won any silverware...

The reason they are doing well in the cups and not the League is they have nothing to play for in the league.Gee Gerrard hasnt even been put on the bench for a few games lately so we know where the focus is.
Kenny will always be known as the King.
Same as Wally Lewis.
Has no bearing at all on his managerial skills.(which lets face it has been rather poor).
He's won a cup and made another Cup Final so he should survive ther chop this year.

Now if he can only get rid of the dead wood thats been hanging around for a while and substitute them with some quality we'll be a lot better off.
No use me repeating the same old names but remember we also have the Aquaman and Joe Cole on our books and cant move them on either.
Could do worse than actually give them a go ahead of Shelvey,Kuyt,Spearing and co.

I hope he sticks around.

For the same reason i was hoping Chelsea would hold onto AVB and the same reason i want 'Arry to stay at Tottenham.

At any other club in the world spending 100 million and not improving would be the end of you. Hell, if it was any other manager he would be sacked. But because it's him he'll still around. I can't see how everyone in world football knows what has to be done but the Liverpool fans can't.

I see your point. But he's spent 100 million for 1 trophy in a year, quite possibly two. What have Arsenal spent since 2004? And furthermore, why is nobody calling for Arsene to be sacked simply because the Gunners are now in the top 4?

100 million for the carling cup?

If you think Liverpool want to play for 7th and pick up the odd league cup then your probably thinking of a different LFC.

If Kenny had lost his best players, not spent £100 million and not defended a racist by wearing a stupid T-shirt, he may be given more slack. ;-)

Liverpool spent 60 million in the summer transfer window(Carroll was in January)which was the same or less than Ferguson from Manure spent in the first few weeks of the summer transfers of 2011.

Wont even go into Citys spending but if City happen to roll United for the Title should they sack Ferguson as well?If not should Mancini go?
They will qualify for the champions league and be reimbursed some money.
Its not like theyve won any trophies so far and Liverpool did dump them out of the FA Cup.(one of them won the charity shield but I cant remember which one or who cares about that).

Whats 100 million these days?

Kenny has spent 100 million. I don't care when he did it.

If Fergie gets rolled over by free spending city? Nah.

If he got rolled over by Newcastle and Everton and wore a T-shirt defending a racist. Then you know, i might be thinking its time for new blood around the place. ;-)

Arsenal have spent what they've earned. I think that's why he gets a bit of leeway. To put it into context the most he's ever spent on a player is 15 million for Arshavin. You guys have topped that four times (Henderson, Downing, Carroll and Suarez) in the last 16 months.

And you must've missed the start of the season when everyone was calling for his head after our rough start. Don't get me wrong, there are heaps of Arsenal fans who question him and wonder if he's the man to take us through. But considering the resources we have and what he's done for us (invincibles, stadium etc.) i think most think he's the right person to get us through this shit patch.

You are right though. If he gets two cups this year then that 100 mill can be justified. But FA and Carling cups aren't going to attract any big name players. You guys need players like Hazard, Kagawa, Podolski etc. and although you might have the money to afford them can you see someone of that calibre joining a team that finished below Everton or level with Fulham? There are five or six teams in the premier league alone that big players would choose over Liverpool.

Also Wenger hasn't disgraced himself like KKKenny did during the Suarez scandal.

Says it all really.

No one expected Liverpool to contend for the title, apart from Liverpool fans, but considering Liverpool have gone backwards from last year, despite the spending, it's a bit embarrassing.

Roy was doing just as bad with a shitter Liverpool team but LFC fans couldn't wait to get rid of him.

If you want to talk net spend you can start reducing the 100 million by half with the Torres transfer fee of 50 million.
Add some of the players moved on and a number out on loan and I think you'll find the Liverpool wage bill has been kept pretty much the same or reduced slightly.
Everyone knew that Carrolls 35 million was funded by Chelsea who agreed Torres transfer fee would be 15 million more than what Newcastle wanted for Carroll.

What do you think he was going to do with the transfer funds?
Put it in the bank?

Who are these big players you are talking about that have chosen 5 or 6 teams over Liverpool?
Fact is they'll all pick Man City if its a money issue.

Hold onto it maybe. Instead of throwing 35 million at what would turn out to be the worst transfer of all time. What did Newcastle do with the money you gave them?

They brought Cabaye for 4, Santos for 5-7, Ba for free and Cisse for 10. They built half their team with that money. The facts are that Dalglish was trusted with ~100million and the only player that would even be close to starting for a CL team from the PL would be Suarez.

I'm not saying they have. I'm saying they will. Obviously i can't see into the future. But if you're competing for a player with a team in the CL (Arsenal) or one competing to get back into there (Spurs) you're kidding yourself if you think they'll choose LFC.

Ffs, you're closer to 18th than you are to 4th.

Torres left 2 hours before the January deadline finished last year.
We got Suarez and Carroll and lost Torres and one other.
Who would of played up front?
We had no strikers and still need one.
The sale of Torres and someone else who's name escapes me funded Carroll and Suarez.
It was a net of zero.

Please let me know who we would have had upfront when Torres transfer went through at 10 oclock on the last night of the transfer window.

Bring back any memories of Fabregas and Nasri?

Who would have played up front? How about the striker you paid 22 mill for?? You got him before you sold Torres. There was your replacement there. There's no way you can justify spending 35 million on Carroll. At the time he was the 8th most expensive signing of all time. Aguero and Falcao went for about as much as he did and they're World Class. Not Geordie convicts who had a decent half-season.

Fckn tired of Liverpool fans and their net spending. He spent 100 million on geniuss. Who gives a shit where the money came from.

You should have played Suarez up front. Which is what he was doing in Holland and what he's been doing since he's come over.

What did Newcastle do after they had sold Carroll? Nothing. They waited. And now look where they are. And look where you are.

No, it doesn't remind me of Fabregas and that lesbian. We brought Gervinho and AOC before Nasri left in case he did end up going. And brought in a PL proven CM in Arteta who has been easily our best buy and has become one of our most important players. I understand the concept of panic buying.

I'd say the only player that was a real panic buy for Arsenal was Benayoun. And Park. And again, Benayoun was PL proven and is only on loan. While Park hasn't been given any game time for whatever reason.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasnt it you who said Arsenal spend what they earn(in other words net spending)?
Suarez has been playing up front since he got here.
Where do you think he's been playing?
He's got the nod to start over Carroll basically from when he got to Liverpool.
He scored straight off the bench about 24 hours after we signed him and Carroll never played for a while after we signed him as he was injured.
Weve been short a striker all year because we arent all lucky enough to have Van Persie up front saving us.
