I don't think its an issue of intelligence, though. Its an issue, IMO, of open-mindedness (on multiple fronts).

As discussed previously Ferguson had to make a play at Inglis or Inglis would have strolled over. If you are going to blame anyone, Morris was the one who missed the tackle on GI that put Ferguson in a 2 on 1 situation a metre out from the line. :crazy:

Merritt is completing about 65%

He's also the best attacker. Pete tries to muddy that issue by saying Ferguson's try-scoring percentage isn't much worse, which someone like me sees through instantly.

Why ask their opinion when we can go to the stats? Merritt is a try-scoring machine non-pareil in todays game. The best seen since Menzies or Renouf.

Sigh merritt lovers...

No one is denying the bloke can score tries, but he doesnt suit origin. Origin is a much more defensive game and its a battle for field possession, so your wingers need to be used as metre makers early in the set.

How many sweeping plays ended up going to the wingers in origin 1? The fact is he would have been useless in that game, ineffective coming out of our red zone, and a liability under the high ball.

David Williams was a solid club player, grand final winner and even part of the Australian world cup squad. Besides the world cup final, he was solid throughout..................... than origin happened. Williams was able to stand up at international level, Nathan Merrit has yet to be noticed for City vs Country.
