lol yeah drop Pearce to accommodate Soward  he sure proved he's meant to play origin

You've obviously taken last season's Grand Final smashing well hahaha. Have you made one objective post on this forum?

Great NSW team in your signature by the way. No bias there whatsoever.

For the sake of building on last night, changes for Game 2 need to be kept to an absolute minimum. I would keep the same team from last night, except Watmough> King and Hayne> Morris.

Only five changes. Morris and King definitely have to go. Gidley and Lewis simply come back from injury so no real changes there. And I just really dislike girlglasser Bird.

If I was picking the side for game 1 again however, I would drop Gasnier, Pearce, Ennis, Snowden, Scott and Merrin as well. But supposedly we can't chop and change too much.

using R69's team as a template - because he was bloody close imo:

1. Dugan
2. Hayne
3. Jennings
4. Gasnier
5. Uate
6. Soward
7. Pearce
8. TLL
9. Young
10. Snowden
11. Bird
12. Scott
13. Gallen (c)

14. Ennis (i liked what sticky did with Ennis coming on after the sting was out, despite his first touch, ennis had a good game)
15. Mannah
16. Merrin
17. Lewis

so that's King, Morris and Creagh out for TLL, Hayne and Lewis. 3 changes, and i feel it's enough. Gaz wouldn't be in my team if Lawrence or Gordon were fit... but they aren't... so he is. need to find a way to get the ball to Uate, though.

I don't think anyone in NSW could provide the spark off the bench that Carney would. Carney to slot into the halves/roving role and someone like Pearce can go to hooker.

Hayne in on the wing. I said it before and I'll say it again.. those 2 would kill it.

(Providing Carney's running game improves over the next 2 weeks)

I like Dwyer as an option as well, but I dont think we should make so many changes, and surely Lewis is ahead of him if fit. Besides which, our 2nd row was not our problem.

Unsure of last bench spot.

Would strongly consider Carney if he can show improvement the next couple of weeks.

Dwyer is an arm grabber in defence and will not assist in the middle third when required. Not ready for Origin by a few yards yet

Bearing in mind there won't be wholesale changes, I would hope the following 17 runs out:

1. Dugan
2. Uate
3. Gasnier
4. Jennings
5. Morris (I'd like to see Hayne but Stuart won't go back on his "picking players in their position" stance)
6. Soward
7. Pearce
8. Learoyd-Lahrs
9. Ennis
10. Snowden
11. Scott
12. Bird
13. Gallen

14. Gidley
15. Galloway
16. Creagh
17. Mannah

Young wasn't up to it, Gidley is a superior utility and Young isn't good enough as a back-rower to oust Creagh so pretty fair that he gets the chop.

King is woefully out of his depth - TLL should earn a recall.

Merrin isn't ready, was solid enough in defence but you could have been forgiven for forgetting he was out there.

I don't believe Scott offers anything to the side other than his defence - we had NOTHING on that right edge at all last night, but come game 2 I'd be hoping Gaz is ready to spurt sauce otherwise he'll get the chop - but I'll keep Scott there for one more shot.

3 changes in total, including just one (two if you include Ennis starting) to the starting side.

With respect to the right edge I think that Soward has had his game to settle into the pace and intensity of Origin and that his combinations may flow better in game 2

I'd be inclined to agree re combinations if they hadn't picked the Dragons right edge for the first game. Yes Origin is played at a faster pace but it was like Soward, Scott & Gasnier were all playing their first game together at times.
