The best Moment: 1981 Grand final

Just the build up to the game knowing that we weren't gonna do what we did in 76 and 77, I remember collecting newspaper clippings before and after the game and vividly remember the first time I actually shead a tear after the game, even for a 11 year old sitting on the old SCG hill it was a very special moment.

The worst moment: Gibsons departure in 1983

We had just won the grand final and yet to sign Ella, Sterling, Grothe and Muggleton to new deals so it was extremely stressful especially when clubs like Canterbury and Manly were offering the leagues clubs to them, I picked up a paper a good month after the grand final to find out that Gibsons decided to step down as coach and have john Monie take over the role, for some sickening reasons I thought with his departure we would lose those players mentioned, I didn't sleep for days before they announced they all committed themselves to the club for the next couple of seasons.

Tells about you best and worst moments.

Best Moment - Winning the 1987 and 1996 GF. Closely followed by hearing that Manly was Manly again.
Worst Moment - 1997 Grand Final, or having to call my team the "Northern Eagles".

Best: 1986 Grand Final. Ray Price and Mick Cronin bow out winners in one of the most intense grand finals ever. (Too young to attend 1981 GF in person, but it probably would have been better!)

Worst: 2001 Grand Final First Half. All the expectation and Knights blew us away. Was getting text messages from the Central Coast based girl I had just started seeing, was not happy (but we're still together four years later :D).

Just noticed it was you Eela that started this thread... I was devastated that my dad and grandad got tickets to '81 GF, and decided I couldn't go with them. :( Watched it on TV instead aged 8, was magic, but nothing would have compared...

As a Canterbury supporter my worst moment was finding out that we had lost 37 competition points in 2002. I know it was the only punishment the NRL could give, but I just felt betrayed as a fan by the club's management at the time, and that 17 wins in a row meant nothing, very tough time.

Best moment has to be the comeback in the 1998 Preliminary Final (Sorry Eels fans).
Down 18-2 with 10 minutes remaining they were gone for all money, but that comeback was unbelievable and narrowly edges out last year's Grand Final triumph.

I understand the worst moment however doesn't the 04 or 95 premiership mean anything to you???...ffs..surley those gf were more important than that semi.

I understand where you are coming from.

Firstly, in 95, I remember the game but I was really too young to appreciate it.
When I look back now at what they acheived, it was quite remarkable, finished 6th, won every semi and beat Manly who had only lost 2 games all season. But at the time, I was only 7 years old, so I didn't really appreciate it.

The 2004 Grand Final was incredible and I don't think there is another club around that can triumph through adversity like Canterbury, not just saying that either.

I know the premiership is the pinnacle, but that 10 minutes of football is the most unbelievable 10 minutes I have ever seen, quite incredible, Parramatta played for 70 minutes, the Bulldogs played for 10, but the Bulldogs won. But that's sport I guess, the premiership wins come close, but being at that game in 98 was my greatest moment.

Worst: 2000 Preliminary Final loss to the Roosters, absolutely gutting.

Best: 97 & 01 Grand Final wins and the career of Andrew Johns.

I think i felt every emotion possible during that match. I was absolutely at the bottom of the barrell at half time. I felt so low i just wanted to go crawl in a hole. By the end of the match i was absolutely jubilant ... never seen a greater comeback ever. Was just so proud of the boys at the end.

The emotions would have been the same but at opposite times for you knights fans. Incredible game though wasnt it ?

p.s. has joey found his mouthguard yet ? ;-)
