People wonder why halves are paid so much money.Look at a guy like Hunt, paid over 800k nad still f$%ked it up on the weekend and it's not like there's many other great options in the nrl at the moment.

So we are losing 3 props (Sue, Grant, Felise) and haven't signed anyone to replace them??
Lucky we have the V12 engines of the kiwi props.Packers 50mtr carries per game allow us to not need any depth in the front row department !

Additionally we r fortunate to have Huth the hard running gazelle able to b considered as a full time prop !

The top teams invest so heavily in star talent that realistically they are only 2 maybe 3 injuries away from being ordinary themselves.

Melbourne and Penrith were absolutely ravaged by injury this season and both played finals football; Melbourne probably in the GF.
It's all about roster management and having strong pathways in place for the juniors coming up through the ranks.
Stability helps too, although it didn't really seem to affect Penrith this season.
Teams like the Roosters may be stacked but they're only a coupla injuries away from disaster.

I think most of the sides you mentioned has classy backups...who are not out of place in NRL.
Where all we had was Rochow,McQueen,Grant,Garner,Eisensloth and Godinet.
We have to STOP buying these type of rejects and journeymen.

Melbourne and Penrith were absolutely ravaged by injury this season and both played finals football; Melbourne probably in the GF.

Their star players played majority of the regular season however;

Penrith

Maloney - 20/25 games winning 71% of all games played in
Cleary - 15/25 games winning 60% of all games played in

Melbourne

Cameron Smith - 23/25 games winning 70% of all games played in
Billy Slater - 17/25 games winning 68% of all games played in
Cameron Munster - 21/25 games winning 56% of all games played in

Then lets look at us;

Luke Brooks - 24/25 games winning 50% of all games played in
Benji Marshall - 21/25 games winning 57% of all games played in
Russell Packer - 19/25 games winning 58% of all games played in
Ben Matulino - 23/25 games winning 52% of all games played in

Our so called clutch players don't do it for us like the players outlined who can take ordinary players/sides and turn them into world beaters.

I reckon the only player in that list that is a class player is Brooks and he isn't at the same level as most of the other players listed there.

We have a couple of class players - Brooks & Mbye. We have a potential class player in Liddle. These guys though have to raise their standards a little to step up to top players in the comp except Liddle who needs to raise his level a lot.

We just need some better players across the park. Our backrow especially that right edge spot was a problem this season. I think though Garner, Lawrence, Matterson and Chee-Kam give us quality edge players. We don't have someone like Kikau but our edge backrowers look good to me.

It's our middle forwards and centres that need to improve. I don't think the issue is our so called clutch players. Benji isn't a clutch player now. He is a borderline first grader.

You miss the point Tiger05. Melbourne and Penrith may have been hit by injury this year but their key players, the ones who are paid to win them games and make their teams gel, played majority of the season. Their win records go to show that are the key to success.

Do you think Melbourne or Penrith make it if Smith, Slater and Maloney missed most of the season? I think not.

We don't have the same teams across the park as those teams. I'd even argue that Penrith for instance relied a lot on Kikau and Blake when they were close to losing games.

Do you think Melbourne or Penrith make it if Smith, Slater and Maloney missed most of the season? I think not.

Melbourne rely much more on Smith and Slater but they can still cover for losing these players. Penrith rely on Maloney but they can compete without him and they showed this year they can compete without Cleary and Maloney.

My opinion is that you need a quality team overall to give yourself the best chance of success. If you look at Manly they have quality players like DCE, the Turbo boys and Taupau. If those players played for a top team they would fir right into those squads.

It's just like the Turd. He is winning games now but he is within a quality team. He was playing well for us but without the team across the park we didn't win enough games.

I just think we need to keep improving our squad and focus on key areas where we are weak. I'm pretty happy for instance with signing Matterson because that right edge spot was weak this season.

I'm also not worried about our class players like Brooks and Mbye.

He’s shit
Yep he is crap so will fit right in at concord.

U want to win a comp u need aggressive props who can bend the line & can play for 50 -60 mins & give u >130mtrs of machismo carries per game.We r deadset fkd in the front row department thanks to the moronic recruitment by the phoney bus driver.

As soon as Cleary returns to b Gould’s bitch once again which I think will b for next season he ought to b compelled to take the useless kiwi props he signed with him.

This has been our main problem for years. We either sign sh@t players or we sign good players for too much money and they come here and bludge. People wonder why players leave us and go on to bigger and better things else where, it's because the clubs they sign with don't put up with players only putting in pea hearted efforts and they have a winning culture that players know they are expected to buy into.
We need to stop signing people like Packer and sign more guys like Matterson and Twal. That way we get proper depth instead of rejects like Godinet.
