Your Team & Local Juniors

I am just curious as to which players would be playing for which NRL clubs, if they could only be eligible based on their junior club/s. With players moving around between clubs so much, it?s hard to keep track of where they are from.

If you could pick any current NRL player from any team, but they had to be a local junior; what would your best team look like?

Wests Tigers
1. J Tedesco (Camden Rams NSW)
2.
3.
4. C Lawrence (Eagle Vale St Andrews NSW)
5.
6.
7. M Pearce (North Ryde Hawks NSW)
8. A Woods (Leichardt Juniors NSW)
9. R Farah (Enfield Federals NSW)
10. B Gibbs (Macquarie Fields Hawks NSW)
11.
12. R Hoffman (Campbelltown Collegians NSW)
13.
14.
15.
16.
17. J Mullaney (Eagle Vale St Andrews NSW)

Yes, I am struggling to fill spots for the Tigers. But I know some die-hards will easily be able to plug the gaps.

I imagine the Warriors, Parramatta & Brisbane would field very strong teams?

Note ? L Fulton would qualify for Parramatta, as his junior club was Greystanes Devils, who play in the Parramatta Junior comp. (Wikipedia)

Jacob Loko Frank Pritchard both played for Campbelltown City
Tim Lafai played for Campbelltown warriors.
Peni Tagive played east Campbelltown as did Jarryd Hayne but not too sure when with Hayne.
Ben Roberts Narellan Jets
Mark Minichiello Liverpool Catholic Club (LCC) not sure about anthony

it's local juniors only

If anyone is going to claim Inglis it's Newcastle dammit! Spent more time playing in Newcastle as a junior than anywhere else. Everyone else I named is a Newcastle junior as far as I know.

Uate spent only a year or something in Woy Woy before going to Newcastle, he's been in the Knights ranks since 2005. Before that he never played rugby league so I think Newcastle can easily claim him, if not then nobody can!

He spent more then a year at woy woy. He spent 2 or 3 years commuting and playing grade for woy woy while in knights reps.

Mead has his junior club as Lismore Marist, Sandow as Cherbourg (I know he had a year or two at Seagulls) I'd call Mead a junior over Sandow.
Which Gordon? Kevin Gordon isn't a junior but Michael Gordon is and would would walk into the side.
Not too sold on Benji and T'eo being juniors either but they did spend some time on the coast during their development I suppose.
Anyway it does show that the Coast has produced some talent, and will continue to do so in the future, hopefully the Titans can pick up the right ones.

On the subject of local juniors I was watching a Super League game the other day and the commentator mentioned that 12 players of the Wigan squad of 25 were local juniors who had come through their production system and 9 of those were actually born and bred Wigan lads.

That's pretty damn impressive.

I was going on the assumption that the area also needed an NRL team? As far as I know Newcastle would be the areas Nrl team for the purpose of this excercise?

Assuming the area has an NRL team would make Scone and Taree a part of The knights area no?

To go along with your way of thinking then a lot of players named aren't from "the Newcastle area" some are lake Macquarie shire etc etc.

With Inglis he played at my old high school in Newcastle so I would say he would qualify but I never listed him in my team as I knew there would be much butthurt.

I saw him play rugby at my school on the central coast in 2006 or 2007.

I think in that game it was 15 out of the seventeen born in Great Britain, not exactly sure how many born and or raised in Wigan.

Interesting reading, if you have time.
