Your team to play Manly

If Farah and Woods decide to play, we will need Austin on the bench to cover for Farah.

1 - Hitchcox - a more natural fullback who is a capable ball player and good ball runner
2 - Nofoaluma
3 - Sironen
4 - Fine
5 - Richards
6 - Moses
7 - Brooks
8 - Woods
9 - Farah
10 - Galloway
11 - Akoula
12 - Blair
13 - Halatau

14 - Lodge
15 - Taupau
16 - Seumanufagai
17 - Austin

At least then we have plenty of mobility in the back row so that they don't need to be subbed off.

Plenty of props on the bench to ensure Woods doesn't have to play for an hour.

Austin can cover Farah/Moses/Brooks/Hitchcox

Lawrence needs a relaity check. he cannot continue to be picked until he improves his game. At this stage, he is trying to hard to do too much and it's turned him into a bumbling mess.

Stick him in NSW to learn the simple things he was always impeccable at - hitting gaps, running strong lines, draw and pass, sliding defence.

Sironen has been playing so wide these last two games, and the difference between a wide running back rower and a centre are very little. He's a better ball player than Lawrence, albeit slower (although about the same speed laterally). because he knows he is slower, he will draw and pass and put his winger into space better than Lawrence, who has tended to push his winger out of the field of play, or back inside where he easily defended.

It makes no sense now, when we need a five-eighth, to have our future five-eighth playing at fullback.

A pretty good summation Madunit...I'd go with what that. I think the centres you have chosen are good enough but a very big ask against Matai and Lyon.

A big ask for Farah and Woods to back up from SOO however, many say it's easier to back up on the Friday night.

I think the Tigers need to go back and play the way they started the year with the forwards and big bench. They will give the go forward for Brooks and Austin at 6 and 7 and naturally with the settling influence of Farah. Would let Austin and Moses swap or at least with Moses, let him 'sniff around' when in attack in opposition 20.

1. Mitchell Moses
2. David Nofoaluma
3. Tim Simona
4. Chris Lawrence - because I don't think they will drop him !!
5. Pat Richards
6. Blake Austin
7. Luke Brooks
8. Aaron Woods
9. Robbie Farah
10. Keith Galloway
11. Adam Blair
12. Bodene Thompson
13. Dean Halatau
Interchange:
14. Martin Taupau
15. Ava Seumanufagai
16. Sauaso Sue
17. James Gavet

The forwards who started and played so well at the start of the year need to be reunited with a couple of changes, as a reminder:
Rd 1 v Dragons - Woods; Farah; Taupau; Fulton; Thompson; Blair
Interchange: Paterson; Seumanufagai; Sue; Gavet

Rd 2 v Titans - Woods; Farah; Galloway; Paterson; Thompson; Blair
Interchange: Taupau; Seumanufagai; Sue; Gavet

Rd 3 V Souths - Woods; Farah; Galloway; Fulton; Thompson; Blair
Interchange: Taupau; Seumanufagai; Sue; Gavet

Few problems with this mate - Simona and Sue are injured and Bodene is likely going to get a 1 match suspension

Yeah Brother Jim, I thought that was still the case. Just 'picking' the best forwards and naturally Simona walks into back line in prefect world.

I just don't see the sense in playing Moses out of position if he is going to be our long term five-eighth, may as well get him in the jumper asap. Austin is a handy bench utility.

I agree, he has the best passing game I have seen in a long time + he is pretty quick on his feet & has a good brain for the game. Stick him at 5/8........

I would play Austin at 5/8. Great long kicking game and a much needed ball runner.

Hitchcox would be my choice of fullback at this stage. Or Nofa and bring Taufaka (sp?) to his debut on the wing.

I just think you need a fullback who will support through the ruck, not a Moltzen style second pivot

He will get murdered in the line. Needs to stay in NSW Cup. Bench impact if anything.

Potter will run him somewhere and he is on a hiding to nothing.
Will be exposed wherever he plays.

Despite what people are saying I dont think he looked good last week.
Maybe Farah and some ruck direction and structure will help him.

I would follow a similar line to the Bulldogs and pick a huge pack that can unsettle Manly,if that means starting with Marty,Akoula,Gavet so be it,as for the backline ,anyone else other than Lawrence and that other gimp that was in the centre.

I tend to agree
Not many harder outings than Manly at brookie...give him a few more runs this year off the bench, raiders, Sharks drags...easier maybe

14) Ava
15) Akouala
16) Halatau

Sort of inspired by Des Hasler.

You will not get Potter thinking outside the square,it will be all the same plodders again. Mind you what can he really do....you can't make massive changes this late in the year and expect to be competive. All he really can do is pick much the same team and hope they can complete their sets and at least put some pressure on Manly unlike last Sunday.

Potter team selections seem to be based on safety first which is pretty dour and uninspiring. The WT have had issues all year with our attack and defence out wide but he has persisted with the same players who have failed to deliver time and time again while others have never been given the opportunity to show case what they have to offer.IMO the sooner we have a coach that is proactive rather than reactive the better the WT will be.
