Mark Meredith shouldnt have left Souths..

for the Eels i'd say Adam Dykes and Andrew McFadden (although the latter wasnt as bad as people make him out to be)

Colin Best, he may have scored 20 tries ( which is pretty easy playing outside Gaz ) but he let 25 in down his wing. My 7yo has better tackle on his fishing rod. He put some amazing hits on thin-air all year.

Disagree completely.

Gasnier certainly added to Best's try tally, but Gaz running out of the line and leaving Best with 2 on 1 was the culprit for the bad defence in most instances.

George Carmont

And how can you Knights fans say George Carmont!? Stranger reckons he's better than Nathan Blacklock, the leading try scorer 2000-2003.

Daniel Wagon on 2003-2005 form, has done nothing since, cost us a few times in defence, especially that cowboys game, in attack is frustrating you're lucky to see him pass the ball.

Aaron Cannings, not really a dud, but he hasnt done what was expected from him. There's a lot of hype about him when he was at Manly.

I'd say we can say Georgey because, believe it or not, we don't all talk collectively. We used to, but it just got too much of a hassle to organize who was going to say what in which thread. Logistics nightmare y'know?

Kirk Reynoldson (didn't get much of a chance, didn't show too much promise in his limited time in first grade, certainly not enough to justify an alleged 240k contract)
Steve Witt
Josh Perry
George Carmont

LOL, I for instance think that Georgey goes okay I am in the 1%, his defence in the back half of the year was virtually faultless and he shut down Gasnier in the last game which is a huge accomplishment.

The fact that he's been among our top try scorers and metre getters is his biggest thing on his resume.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You've seen it a different way to me Drake, but I will say that if you're left in a 2 on 1 situation, the Golden Rule is to take one of the attacking players out, not flap your arms about in between them. Remember "tackle the man with the ball", it's fundamental football.

Tyran Smith - enough said

Jeez you Canberra blokes are hard on poor old Tyran.

Sure, he had some mistakes in him but I always thought he was a good, solid workhorse type.

True, he may have got more time in firsts if he'd stayed...I was rapt when I heard we'd signed him, then this mystery illness knocked him for six along with his slow knee recovery.

mark merediths career has been struck by many injuries!

watch out for his brother though

Whos his bro play for?

Hey I liked Tyran, but the facts were we sadly saw the mistake-riddled Tyran more often than the solid player that most of us knew he could be.

Pretty sure his brother is at the Roosters - Steve is his name. Meredith showed a lot of promise in his lower grade career. Injuries hampered his time at Souths as well.

Arguing who is the "bad" defender out of the Gas/Best combo..........

Reminds me of arguing after the 04 GF exactly WHO let in all the tries. Walker or Hodges

hid brother is Steven Meredith. PL at the roosters. was set to make his debut last year but a minor niggling injury stopped that!

I think we could add owen craigie to that list

and Matt Nightingale - remember the hype on him before people saw him play and realised how useless he was?
Thanks for taking Matt off our hands. I remember when John Lang came to the Panthers he had a choice of Matt Nightingale or Trent Waterhouse for the last spot in the team. Thankfully the Tiges came along and bought Nightingale and Trent got the last spot.:thumb

i certainly wouldn't mind being known as a dud if it meant having played a few first grade matches.
