Martyn played a whole 2 years of boring selfish not to mention crap cricket and kept his spot long enough to redeem himself. I think Clarke at least deserves another opportunity considering the amount of time Martyn got to prove himself.

Small difference...even during Martyn's lean period he was still averaging well despite not getting the hundreds. Clarke has had a number of opportunities, not to mention playing the West Indies with one of the worst attacks ever at home and failing dismally! You want a batsman fine, give Jaques a go!

Unfortunately there are no stats for wickets taken by the guy at the other end when Bracken has been bowling, but I'm willing to bet they are decent stats. Batsmen struggle to score off Bracken so they try things against the "less risky" bowler and get out, it's not rocket science.

ROFL, the old one liner again, if he can't get wickets...well it must be happening from the other end! Ever thought it may be becuase he is crap and can't get wickets!

That is the dumbest thing I've heard and it's typical of a Martyn follower to say.

So if Hussey for example gets 10 ducks in a row he deserves to keep his place for the next series because his average will still be OK???

You f**king nong, 12 wickets says he can. More than any of the bunch seen to be competing for the last quick spot. But hey, you've never let the facts get in the way of a decent brain fart before, why start now hey?

not to mention when Martyn was 'keeping up his average' during that period that's all he had in mind, he was batting selfishly and still managing to get out with not many runs.

ou interpreted it wron. I was talking during that period. Martyn was averaging mid 20's possibly even low 30's during that period. Yes it isn't great, but it isn't that bad as much as Clarke's slump!

Yet, by your own admission, if Clarke shouldn;t be there with an avg of 36, then Martyn should surely have been farked off with a two year period without a ton averaging in the 20's, yes? Or is that too logical?

Yet Clarke still averages 36...

Clark has more than 12 wickets, so give him the spot. Or why not give it to Dizzy if you want one bowler who won't get wickets but keep it tight!

Martyn's constant selection during that time was the biggest travesty of justice in recent times. No one wanted him there, he was just wasting space and even worse, playing for himself.

He has improved since then, but he has had a lot of time to make that improvement.

Nope, a recod counts for more than you think for mine. Plus experience counts. Clarke plays reckless shots all over the place! Bowlers have worked him out!

So now you're psychic are you? That's some talent there sunshine, being able to tell me definitively that Bracken won't get wickets...f**king dope, I believe he has the bulk of his wickets in the two Tests he played most recently, ergo he is improving with time. But hey, it;s good enough for Watson to be early in his career and therefore not have much impact, but not for Bracken, right? f**king hypocrite...

A record counts for something, but does it make up for TWO YEARS of failure? Not to mention nothing much since? Surely even you aren't that stupid...Clarke has 30 odd Tests and a truckload of potential, yet it's ok to stick with a struggling has been in Martyn when Clarke has done no worse than Marto in that period...LMAO!
