FOX Sports has scored a massive coup, stealing popular sports reporter Yvonne Sampson from Channel Nine.

Following weeks of negotiations with Fox Sports bosses Patrick Delany and Steve Crawley, Sampson officially signed with the subscription TV giant, with execs understood to have been impressed with the 35-year-old’s on-air presence and immense knowledge of the NRL.

The multi-year deal comes as Fox is set to launch its dedicated 24-hour NRL channel in 2017 and will see Sampson work alongside the network’s current NRL team of Lara Pitt, Matt Johns, Nathan Hindmarsh and Gorden Tallis.

For the past two years, Sampson has been front and centre of Nine’s Rugby League coverage, fronting Friday Night Football, the Sunday Footy Show and the State of Origin.

Sampson’s switch to Fox Sports comes after the revelation of a massive pay discrepancy between female and male sports reporters at the Nine Network.

It was also revealed that female sports talent have been expected to work for “free” outside their contracted duties and fly economy while their male counterparts were treated to business class seats.

That's me done with Channel Nine. I'll likely make an exception for State of Origin but all my NRL and international footy will be on the NRL Live from now on.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Nine obviously do not care about maintaining a credible broadcast of the game if they are prepared to let their best people be pilfered.

Beau Ryan is on 800k a year? I wouldn't pay that jerk off to empty my spitoons!

I know it is off topic, but you didn't look too close at Round 13 v Newcastle Knights. 6.00pm on Friday 2 June 2017 at AAMI. It is the only home game in the dreaded 6pm Friday time slot the Storm have in Rounds 1-20.

Well I'll be, the best thing 9 have for RL and now she's gone...Just like the ratings will show even more now.

What a useless bunch...they must recruit their execs from the same place the ARLC do.

Bloody geniuses the lot of them.

Must admit I didn't look that closley, mate. but thanks. I just think the whole idea stinks for Sydney clubs and for the comp in general.

Fox wanted it and got it. they are the only benificiaries here IMO.

Why is everyone such a big fan of hers?
What does she offer apart from a reasonably pretty face?

She's a good presenter and sideline commentator. Much better than some of the halfwits still in TV and radio.

What were Ch 9 thinking? They've let go Voss, now Sampson.

I'm sure they can get someone else in to do the job. If all she offers is sideline reporting and hosting then that's not hard to replace. It's not as though she offers any opinions of her own.

Don't get me wrong, I like her, but I just don't see why she's so irreplaceable.

As long as they don't put Molan in there then it can't be too bad.

Cameron Williams can barely string a sentence together and isnt a fan of NRL. Shirvo is a bit the same but is a fan.

Aside from Sterlo she is the only quality presenter CH9 had for RL.

You can bet Fox will be getting more out of her than sideline reporting and conducting the gibberish symphony orchestra of Locky, Joey & Freddy.

I honestly don't get the love either, she obviously knows the game very well but I don't think she translates well to TV. When I hear her speak I always think I'm listening to a 55 female Journo.

I suppose she stands out due to the majority of Ch 9s team being half-geniused but she is a big meh in my opinion.

Sampson comes across as more interested in sport, as her training and background was in sports reporting. This contrasts with Erin Molan's who was a general news reporter who got drafted in because she was a league fan at a time Channel 9 were looking to add a woman to their coverage.
