Zac Lomax

Correct !!! He is a gamble.

Lancelot

Exactly why I wouldn't select Aitken this week. Pickworth described the injury as not being serious with the hamstring essentially being in tact.

At the end of the day the low performance unit will make the call and Mary will act on it.

Just hope the advice that is given is based on Pickworth's actual opinion and not on what Mary wants to hear.

I’d play Lomax, as I’d be worried about Aitken’s hamstring.

Thinking about next season, I would consider playing Lomax at centre and shifting Aitken to wing. I like Aitken as a player but I do think Lomax will go past him at some stage. I think that Aitken could make a good winger, I do not think he’s big enough to play in the forwards.

For those calling him 'Slomax', re-watch the Nene break and try last week and see how quickly Zac picks up ground in support.

Both right centre options are lacking match fitness, I'd personally play him Sunday over Aitken.
I said exactly the same thing either Nene is slower than we think or Lomax is much faster than some think.
The really good thing about Lomax is that he is a natural footballer who understands timer, space and positioning and is therefore able to play without a lot of nervous energy about what to do next which is a major fault with Aitken.

We’ll all have a better idea afterthis week, if indeed he plays. Hopefully with more to come.

Lomax is not slow, nor is he express pace either, but he is our brightest centre peospect we've had since Gasnier. Yeah, i would have liked him to go an extra say 10m before he passed to Dufty fod thaf try, but at least he passed it, and by that stage of the game he would have been running on fumes.

Overall a great 1st full game debut. I hope he plays this week but as I said before McGregor will pump for an 80% fit Aitken.

Catching a high ball and turning and chasing a ball kicked over your head are things that Aitken can't do. Wingers these days need to perform miracle things in scoring a try; not in Aitkens skill-set.

Yes, I posted he had his ears pricked running beside him, which is what excited me more than the try itself.

Look my previous comment might have been too harsh on Aitken but I have been so disappointed with how his form, especially his defence, has fallen away this year. When he doesn't have to think he can tackle well and aggressively but when he has to make a defensive decision he is quite poor and ends up rushing in and often tackling air. There is little wonder his side of the field is targeted by every side we play. Tomorrow will be no different if he plays. Hope the old Aitken, who was lauded as the back we would build our team around for years to come, returns soon. I was so pleased when we resigned him for three years but after the Roosters game I wondered if we had put our eggs in the wrong basket.

Speed isn't everything.

Two of the best centres in the last 10 years are Hodges and Chambers. Neither are express. Both were big and imposing. Lomax is that kind of centre.
