Gosh, while I have also witnessed some awful football from Lomax I don't see why he is singled out. Probably because he was hyped up more than some others.

Each and every player in the team has been guilty of bog average footy and there's only one or two that you'd want to have playing for you if your life depended on it. I don't trust these players and I don't trust this coach. They all give it a go but as a whole they have delivered nothing but disappointment and when it's allowed to play out for so long it brings disgrace to the once proud jersey.

We are a woefully coached, prepared and selected team. The game plan is wrong and the execution is off more often than not. Most our players are out of their depth in a highly competitive competition.

Lomax tries. It's horrible to watch and Friday would have to have been in the top 3 all time most frustrating and inept singular performances but he has loads of friends in that department. Buck has to stop with the coach, but as we have been saying since before any of my kids were born, we need to gut the joint rather than blame one or two players.

We are an amateur club based around a culture of looking after the old boys. If you want to win then you need to be ruthless and that starts with the coach . If you can’t see the green shoots of progress after 18 months in attitude and ladder position it’s time to move on. We have not, last weeks game against the cowboys was a disgrace and to come out with basically the same team this week shows to me that Griffin does not have what it takes. We are into our 11th year of this crap, enough is enough, the Wabbits will slaughter us tomorrow night.

Yep its been very frustrating , over the last 7 years ....... Not that it matters but I just have a feeling (and believe me its not often) that they will go close to winning this ......

I think Lomax needs a stint in reserves, but bringing back Sloan isn’t the answer either. I suggest you watch the match highlights of our most recent NSW cup game. Sloan’s weak defence gifted the opposition 4 tries. That isn’t acceptable and frankly just isn’t first grade standard. I do hope he can improve on this and become an out and out first grader but he’s not there right now.
Sloan's defence wasn't as bad as that earlier in the season and last season as well. In fact, I recall him he pulling off some brave front on tackles on rampaging forwards like big Tino or at least slowing them down until support arrived. And a few weeks back in KOE I saw him produce a great cover defending tackle. Not saying this is how he should react but a lot of how he is playing atm is mental and a product of Hook's inconsistent and contrary approach to selection and favouritism. He was dropped after the Sharks game in Wollongong played at night in a rainy windy swamp when the whole team was down on form and got thrashed and brought back at night also in wet conditions in Magic round. I've seen two of the competions best full backs- Tedesco and Gutherson - in recent weeks miss tackles leading to tries, in the case of Gutherson get nutmegged- also leading to a try- no chance they'd be dropped because their coach has confidence in them.

Our defensive problems however are in the front line- we are missing too many tackles- mainly around the ruck-but also on the fringes- because of a lack of speed where it counts. Ben Hunt is up there with the chief offenders but he is our best player- go figure!

I wouldn't be surprised if Sloan is the next Dragon to request a release- and he'll end up a superstar at the Dolphins.

Fair enough take, but personally I don’t agree. Sloan’s defence before he was dropped was below average at best in my opinion. Doesn’t want to get his shoulders in and make tackles, he seems to prefer the arm grab. Defence is an attitude thing and if his defence is only getting worse, than it suggests he might need an adjustment.

The kid hasn’t played against man up until late last season and then this season. I can only imagine how daunting it would be to go up against lads who have been throwing weights around for much longer than an already skinny kid. However, smaller guys can be pretty decent defenders/tacklers at the back, he just needs to improve in this regard. Hoping he can because tackling like that won’t see him kill it anywhere.

Well I agree that attitude is one important component of defence but no one would suggest that Ben Hunt has a poor attitude and that is the reason for him missing so many tackles. Hunt is strong and very adept at defending players running straight at him- where he struggles is when players are moving at speed and swerve or step him- he doesn't have the speed to recover and catch up.
Sloan is the opposite- at this stage at least. But as I said, many full backs including our top custodians struggle with big opponents running straight at them and concede tries. Have a look at the recent Parramatta Roosters game and you'll see Tedesco and Gutherson performing pretty poorly in defending their lines.

Im a fan of his as a centre and for the first time after last week I called out his form as poor and selfish acts tring to hard to solve things himself and being way out of sorts.
I was not convinced he should be dropped yet but hats of to him tonight for a tougher gritty but not flashy team like performance

A much improved performance but he still has a lot to learn.

Firstly, with Rava’s try, all he had to do was the pass the ball in the first instance, but no, he went for the individual play by dummying. Luckily his Hail Mary flick came off.

Second instance was when we fielded a kick right on our line. He took the first hit up and blind Freddy could see he would be under pressure to get in the field of play. Rather than do what was necessary, he got pushed back into the in goal.

If only the team could do the simple things right.
