The dolphins have been around since 1947 and have built up a property portfolio worth one hundred milllion.

I’m taking a mad stab in the dark here but I’m saying they know a bit more about their finances than you
It doesnt take a business genius to put a load of pokies in a club and get some sad sacks to pour their pensions into them!
Less than 10k at a Brisbane2 game at the weekend. Maybe they should have stuck to running pokie dens?

Didnt need to, should have been Broncos concentrating on the North (with historical fans in South) and South Brisbane Firehawks concentrating south of river. Thats all you need in a city the size of Brisbane. Maybe in decades to come as Ipswich region grows you could have a team out there if its justified. Putting the Dolphins into a region already well covered by Broncos whilst leaving south of river empty other than some Broncos fans was plain stupidity.

The fact you dont want to support either club and are clamoring for a third club already shows what a monumental f**k up it was choosing Dolphins over Firehawks.

Thanks for proving you're massive hypocrite with a self-serving agenda.

You defend Hull's two teams, despite the city having a population of just 260k. Now you're saying Brisbane should have no more than two teams, despite population for the Greater Brisbane region being 2.6m people. Don't use the bullshit excuse that it's a different country and different circumstances. That's just a bullshit excuse for not practising what you reach because you're selfish and have an entitlement complex.

Anyone who doesn't call you out for your cognitive dissonance has no business commenting on expansion.

context is everything. Hull has two A grade SL clubs, 2 of only 7 clubs in Europe to be given A grades. For the size of Rl in UK Hull can manage to host 2 SL clubs. There you go that's contextualized it for you!

a closer analogy would be Perth that doesnt have a dissimilar population to Brisbane. We only need 2 AFL clubs as one is like the Broncos and servicing mostly the north and the other is clearly defined as a southern club. There is no need for a third afl club in perth as the two we have are servicing the city adequately.
Broncos are not as big as Eagles and Dolphins are not as big as Dockers in terms of fan base.
So just as Perth doesnt need a third afl club, Hull doesnt need a third SL club and Brisbane doesnt need a third NRL club.

Welcome to the bullshit logic of Perth Red, based on his envy for what he doesn't have and sense of entitlement.

I'll play the game and tear a few holes in his bullshit theory.

The two largest rugby league clubs in the world are based in Brisbane. Their fanbase is bigger than any other club by some margin. That means there's a greater demand for rugby league in Brisbane than any other region on the planet. If there wasn't then the Broncos and Dolphins would be no bigger than Hull FC and Hull KR. Hull has more supply than demand, hence the reason their combined fanbases are smaller than the Dolphins.

To further demonstrate the stupidity of his claim, let's compare Brisbane 3 with Perth.

He says the cities have a comparable population and brings up the size of the Eagles and Dockers.

1. There's no more than 10-15k people in Perth who will actively support a Perth-based team over the long-term period. TV ratings support my estimate.

2. There's probably another 20-30k RL fans in the Brisbane Tigers' catchment that will atively support the club.

Using Perth Red's logic, that means there's more demand for Brisbane 3 than Perth.

It would be a poor marketing decision to prioritise a team from Perth on the provision it doesn't have one.

There are many fast food chains in America that don’t have a store in Australia. They're not jumping over themselves to expand into Australia ahead of locations in America that already have some but can support more.

3. The Dolphins are bigger than the Dockers when they entered AwFuL.

4. The Broncos have grown exponetially since the Dolphins were introduced.

5. Support for the Eagles and Dockers has declined over the last two years. Attendances and TV ratings are well down on what they were. At their peak, neither club was as well supported on TV as the Broncos.

6. There's interest in Joondalup for a third AwFuL team. It has the backing of Joondalup's mayor.

Perth Red has taken these facts out of context to spread misinformation.

To say you can't have an opinion on expansion because you watch ESL, is about as immature and reductive an arguement as you can get.

It's like saying Panthers fan's can't have an opinion on being a smug f**kwit or Broncos fans on seat pissing.

Correct he cannot, he follows a team in esl that basically shouldn't exist, by his own metrics stated on how he has re imagined the NRLs handling of the Sydney centric clubs of 2000s, its basic hypocrisy 101

How many times has Perth Red argued against Sutherland having a club because their population is 231k?

Yet he thinks its okay for a city in England that has 260k to have two clubs that are smaller than the Sharks?

When he's called on his bullshit he says it's all about "context".

Gloats about the Eagles being larger than Broncos, but ignores the fact the latter draws better TV ratings than the former?

Argues we need teams in Adelaide and Perth to gain more money from the broadcasters, despite Adelaide and Perth providing low ratings for AwFuL and NRL?

He ignores any metric that doesn't suit his agenda.

Didn't you used to argue that one of the Dragons or Sharks should be culled because they cover a small population?

Says West Coast are smaller than Broncos because of ratings but Dolphins are 2nd biggest NRL club because of crowds and memberships, hmm.
