With Southee out this will put more pressure on Boult to perform imo

The weather will also play apart here. Whilst it's a cloudless day the temperature for day 1 is currently 11 degrees centigrade with a predicted top of only 15. Fingers warmers at the ready gents.

Wow - never expected them to leave our Southee, figured if they played two spinners Santner would bat 6

Glad Neesham is back, I'm a fan - his bowling can be dodgy but at the end of the day he's shown he's a decent test cricketer...

I am surprised at the fetish with Dave, not really getting that - Southee has been mediocre for a while now, but neither Santner nor Dave have ever been anything other than mediocre

and yeah, PB, I think if we're smart we're a chance - need something from Latham and Raval - and our supposed big guns (Williamson, Taylor, Watling, Boult, Wagner and Southee) to be good - the worry is that conditions that help Boult and Southee also help Philander - and he truly is devastating in the right conditions

Can't watch ATM, but seems Boult has started really well - RSA 10/1 in the 9th over, Boult trapped Cook lbw

That was a couple of decent balls that got Amla and Duminy by Wagner.

That said Duminy is woeful against the short ball.

128/3 now, Jaapies fighting back - Wagner faltering, he's funny like that, could just go all Starc on it out of the blue

Great stuff from Neesham to get Faf

Is Tucker a genius? Seriously, WTF was with that review (no hotspot, no clear evidence that what he thought was a spike was due to the bat and he decides there's conclusive evidence he hit it?!?!? - Faf was pretty clear he thought it was high, he didn't think he'd hit it...? And Faf's carry-on beforehand wasn't great either

It was pretty clear he feathered it. That's enough evidence for a caught behind review but not an LBW? Lol

That's a fine century from Elgar.

This guy isn't the most gifted guy going around but he battles away. Well done sir.
