Management put Sandow in NSW cup?

The management bit was in reference to Hayne.

We all know BA was a huge fan of Kelly and gave him a shot at the 7 jersey first when we all know Kelly isn't a first grader. The idea was to see if Sandow would hang around despite him getting the chop from the top squad.

Well he had no choice but to put Sandow in nsw cup if he was a fan of Kelly and he was getting first go. But it only took until round 4 for Arthur to change his mind. They may have tried to get rid of Sandow early in the year but the way he handle himself (accepting demotion, training hard) and the way he played may have led to Arthur changing his opinion of him.

So Arthur was in on this plan but after a few games he realised how shit Kelly is so he promoted Sandow? And Hayne/Beavis have forgiven him but not management?

If we start winning the battle in the middle, Sandow will be very dangerous.

This I will agree with, but we've not won the 'battle in the middle' consistently now for more than a decade. What gives you the belief that this is going to suddenly change next season?

I'd actually consider moving Sandow to fullback now that The Plane has gone, but I still probably wouldn't re-sign Sandow. In my opinion it would be a monumental mistake.

The Plane era is over and I think the Club needs to completely rejuvenate the squad.

Its very odd that our management AND hayne himself banged on about this agreement to return to parra if it doesn't work out ...... and then beavis was all - what contract? wheres the money? no agreement - in the media

The club needs to cut its losses and move on from The Plane. If we sit around waiting for The Plane to return we will waste another 5 or more years.

We need new players, with a new attitude, to compliment our current young and inexperienced squad. There is a number of players that should be shown the door at the end of 2015 at the latest also.

Sandow would last about two games at fullback until oppositions decided to bomb the crap out of him and he is found out.

While I dont think we win every battle of the middle next year I do think we will improve a fair bit in the forwards for the following reasons:

- our pack is young and still has improvement in them
- Arthu has stated we weren't physical enough this year
- Arthur has stated the off season is going to be spent working on the physical aspect of our game
- while some have questioned our recruitment, I see if as the coaching trust trying to get some cheap experienced players to help our young side as well as increase competition for spots (similar to what penrith has done but with a lot less money)
- peats won't be injured and mossop / manu / lussick won't hopefully have injury concerns

I too have heard Arthur mention the physical side needs to improve, but you don't need to be a rocket scientist to already know this. Saying it needs to improve, working on it and actually having the players being able to deliver it are all different things. I also cannot believe though that the previous coaches over the passed decade have also not worked on being able to win the play the ball. Have they been able to deliver it on the field though? NO.

If we keep the current squad and don't sign any further major signings, we will soon find out next season just how good a coach Brad Arthur is. He has the job ahead of him.

On Sandow at fullback, with a full off season I could see Sandow becoming quite proficient at full-back, but we don't really have a half to put in his place so it's also unlikely to occur.

What ever happens we need to come up with a different style/approach to the game next season. What we've tried to produce for the last 6 or so years will not work without The Plane around.

The only person who wanted Kelly in FG was BA.

The idea of floating the idea in the first place to play Kelly first was a terrible move, Kelly was on the minimum from all reports and it's been well publicised what Sandow was earning.

Even the players were quoted to say when Chris came back into FG was the right choice.

I was there at training in December last year a few times, Sandow wasn't even doing attack or defence sets, it was Toby Evans and Kelly.

Sandow either sat out or played sometimes as the sweeper in defence.

Arthur had no choice but to bring Sandow in cause Kelly was a complete flop and Toby Evans was playing Ron Massey Cup.

Well said.

I completely agree with this statement.

While I like Mannah and think he is a very decent human being and footballer, he is now the last of a generation of defeatist players at our club. We need to move forward with winners and I think Peats, Watmough (hopefully) and Hoppa can be players to do this.

Mannah is the only player remaining from the 2009 GF.

Now that's what you call a clean out.
