You're left with rugby league pre super league..

f**k yeah!

Back to being so good that hundreds of millions get thrown around to try and own it.

I agree with the sentiment.

Doubt any of the rugby league millionaires would agree with us.

They'd play in empty payTV studios to keep the cash rolling in. And same goes for other sports as well.

There are some notable holdouts - Summer Olympics & F1 - both have been FTA as a matter of strategy and they happen to be the biggest sports as well.

Simple question you can ask yourself

If your club got kicked of the comp today

Wo I ld you watch othervteams play ?

Well my team Souths did get kicked out of the competition. I still watched the football. If it was to happen again I would probably stop watching the game.

Club all the way. The game isn't as entertaining as it used to be. Plus there are so many wankers in and around the game. Not to mention the nearly weekly story of a player being a complete f**king mouth breather

tv is not the best support if anything the 'tv sport' excuses is responsible for the empty seats. those who watch on tv must love empty seats then since they never show up.

What if they love it more at home? You want these people to suffer through an experience they don't enjoy because some people claim you can't be a "real fan" unless you go to games? My dad loves his footy but gets to maybe one game a year as he prefers the coverage the TV provides. I'd like to see you call him out

I love going to games (I hold two memberships) but there is no way I'm going to pass judgement on how people choose to enjoy our great game, or hold myself up as a "bigger" or "better" fan than someone else due to me liking to go to games.

Manly supporter, watch every game and generally enjoy it win or lose. I also enjoy watching other teams, I like to follow a lot of NRL players careers, Manly players or other club players. Generally enjoy the game and DON"T hate any other teams, or even other players. Just respect for the vast majority.

This site has made me realise just how many whinging f**ks are about.

As a kid / teenager I was all about Parramatta. Wouldn't watch any other Club games but would watch SoO or Kanagaroo Tests.

Over the years I've come to love the game itself. If there's a Rugby league match on and I have the means to watch it, I'll watch it. Everything from Fox Memorial Shield to the English Championship to NSW Cup to French Elite, etc... all these competitions have their own distinct flavour to enjoy.

Having said this, I still get the biggest thrill out of watching the Eels. If they one day ceased to exist I would be devastated and would probably need to spend time in an institution recovering, but afterwards I think I would ultimately come back to the game.

Well said, I am exactly the same. Followed the tigers my whole life and will always be a member, last years World Cup was the most satisfaction I have got out of watching the game, it was pure rugby league. I love watching origin, love the gf (best day of the year),love the challenge cup final, love the super league gf, love the nines and always look forward to the international tournaments in October and November. We can and will be so much bigger as a sport if we embrace all levels of rugby league. I find it strange that some people, my mates included can be diehard, lifelong rugby league fans and have no interest in rugby league outside their club or the nrl.

You answered your own pondering.

The GF is the best day of the year. That is the pinnacle of a club comp. People want their club side to win the GF - and it is the best.

Club

Use to be game first, but got worn down by how bad the refs, video ref, judiciary ect are and how they keep getting worse. Over the bullshit.

Same here. If the Knights folded I don't think I'd have much of an interest in watching the game anymore which is a very different response to what I would have had 10 years ago when I'd get excited to watch any game.

As a neutral I still like watching the GF (although this year's was a dud) and Origin but I find watching club games week in week out a drag now.

Honestly - if Parra isn't playing, I'm not keen.

I mean, I'll watch the Finals and Origin to see high quality footy, but I'd just as readily not watch it (unless Parramatta is playing).

I think these points have nailed it.

The constant negativity from the games print and television media have really influenced people's opinion to the point whereby they can't seem to form an objective opinion.

I also think there is a tendency for people to overreact to minor things also.

There is no sport in the world that gets just poor treatment from its "own" media.
Wrong.

I don't give a toss what papers say and barely read any, I refuse to watch the footy show and I went from having pay tv from 2000 ( when I moved to Australia ) and watching every game every week to ditching it and watching only Bronco games. It has zero to do with media and everything to do with the running of the game, the refs, judiciary ect. Apart from watching my Broncos play the game is very meh for me right now, including origin for the last 5 or so years despite being a Qld fan. Even when watching the Broncos play it's generally on as background noise while I do something else like draw or paint. I know a lot of people that support other clubs that feel the same.

Been watching the sg ball last few years since the Reds/pirates were admitted it's great. Young kids giving everything for the love of the game. Some of the raw talent in those under 18's is outstanding.

The onlY games I don't enjoy is the mid season grind games in empty stadiums that end up being snore fests with no atmosphere.

Vote.

Sorry, was going to add a poll but bailed and the thread was published anyway.

Questions that might help.

(1) Do you only watch club games?
(2) Do you watch both club and neutral games with a preference for club games?
(3) Do you consider all games neutral and watch pretty much anything that is on?

I'll watch any games but any involving Melbourne you know where my support lies.

I generally watch all games including the Channel Nine Broncos Lockyer/Lewis wanktfest. How I put up with that shit is beyond belief.

Foxsports is now on pause until the 2015 season.
