Nathan Brown v Wayne Bennett

I think going to Stone as soon as Bennett left contributed to the fall of the Knights. A lot of bad went down during that time though it was a total disaster. Brown it’s good to hear a bit of banter.

Add in Brandy giving it to Thurston in front of a panel of horrified Qlders and it’s been a good week.

I just watched that footage of Alexander saying that in front of Yvonne, Corey and Cooper and their jaws just just dropped to the floor. 'How dare you criticise the beautiful JT' is what they were thinking.

FTR i'm glad to see someone come out and say this. Thurston doesn't look anywhere near the form we are used to seeing him in and he does look of the pace a bit. Maloney dominated him easily for example.

Bennett doesn’t have many friends he has fallout out with nearly everyone. So go figure. I think times have changed and he hasn’t moved on with time. This is why Craig Bellemy will and is the best coach of all time.

He did the same thing at the Dragons, the Dragons haven't been in the frame ever since he left the club, the only difference is that he delivered a premiership, if he delivered a premiership to Newcastle would all of what has been said count for nothing?

Have you noticed how squewed the Broncos cap is atm and potentially how hard it's going to be to fix when Wayne 'steps down' soon? He's nearly 70 and wont give a shit whats left behind. History definitely tells us that now.

If we can snare Tevita and you blokes can't buy a half, can't rort the tpa system and the Andree Gee types are actually gone it could be something to watch when the ship finally sinks up there.

Who'll cop the blame for that?? The new coach, Hook or Ivan Henjak?

Agreed. That was no slight on JT Brandy was just doing his job and calling what he saw.

JT was asked about it and did not seem offended.

It's not like Alexander has said anything that isn't bleeding obvious to anyone watching JT play, especially the last 2 games.

I listened to it.. is what the Milf Hunter said even a really dig at Brown?
More like the journals trying to get a headline.
Good get to the win tonight but the comment from our coach was all bit awkward for my liking.
You can see Pearce awkwardly trying to laugh.
You don’t want the coach becoming one of the boys.
you're knob! do you even support Newcastle ?

Exactly. Anybody who knows how Rugby League is played knows that Thurston isn't playing at his best and that he is off the pace. Some people just won't stand for Thurston being criticised.

He also did it to the Broncos the first time he left.
This is what always puzzles me about Broncos fans that defend him.
He didn't exactly leave the Broncos in good shape.
But somehow Henjak and Griffin (who honestly did a lot of the hard work before Bennett returned) seem to get the blame.

You won't find me disagreeing about this. I think Wayne is one of the best coaches of all time, but he has always been all about Wayne Bennett. In terms of the players he recommended to go elsewhere at the end of his first reign, he didn't leave us in a good spot. But, the club administration totally botched the succession plan (thanks Bruno) so primarily the blame falls there.

Have you got shit for brains or something?

Bennett should have clealry retired after Saints. He can trash as many clubs as he likes now. In fact I've quite enjoyed what has happened at drugcastle and now the drongos. Two bigger dropboxes you couldn't find.

But that is football matters. Going into personal matters is another thing entirely. Browns comment was vulgar, not clever.
Did you go to church this morning?

Brown's comments are of course hilarious but I don't know if I completely agree with the angle he went. What he should have said IMO is that just a year or so ago Bennett was saying what a basket case Newcastle is and that it will take at least five years to rebuild the club, then nek minnit when a journo implies Brown has cleaned up his mess he's saying the club didn't need to be rebuilt. Can't have it both ways.

FTR I wouldn't swap Brown for any other coach in the NRL(sort of pains me to say that while Bellamy exists though). He toes the line sometimes in being a larrikin I agree but he is passionate and a character and a great fit for this club. There is no sense that he is just here to do a job.

Brown would have had 2.5 years of pent up frustration ready to come out. Bennett decided to light the fuse.

Plus some of the thrashings (44-22, 53-0), he's had to deal first hand, against the very team the same bloke who left the club in such a bad state f**ked off from to head back to a cushy 1 city 1 team gig with all the resources and TPA's and favourable refs calls to benefit from, while the media questions your ability as a coach and continues to give the other bloke a free pass because of stuff he did years ago...

Yeah, I'd be frustrated as well!

Just thinking about this now makes me feel even better about how the 2015 GF ended, if that's possible...now excuse me while I go and re-watch the last 10 minutes again on YouTube...
