Am I slow on the uptake? But Amone is now in the 30. But not for McKillrick, seems like we’ve punted Dean Hawkins.

This is good news. Amone is ready for NRL I reckon. His hits, offloads and runs were impressive.

Watched the canterbury cup against the bears on ch9 he was a beast in the first half nearly scoring a few times, he was a little quiet in the second half after he had a breather, i think he will only get better, and more consistent as he plays more. A beast we need.

Not necessarily Souths related but definitely forum related, i would encourage everyone to listen to the latest Hello Sport podcast interview with Jamie Soward discussing his life as a player and media person. Tells a lot of truths about fan reaction to players.

Interesting, so who dropped out for Amone?

Edit- There’s actually 31 listed on our home page. So I guess Amone might not be in our 30. Which makes sense, because I didn’t think you could change the 30 you locked in before the season before June.

I could be wrong but i was under the impression that you only had to lock in 28-29 before the start of season.

He will add real punch off the bench to replace Tom ......

The problem is, who gets dropped from the first grade side, which forward, on Friday nights performance, against last years premieres, deserves to be dropped to enable Amone a start.

And don't for get - there's another Burgess to come back into the side.

Mark Nicholls wasn't great.

A lot of lazy moments in defence (including letting in the Friend try by dropping off too early) and a few errors.

At the very least, he needs to get some more game time in his legs in Canterbury Cup before he plays any more first grade

Officially based off what man? (I'm glad, just haven't seen the rumour confirmed anywhere credible)

I disagree, for the first game of the season I thought Nichols was great. I watched the replay and the miss, well these things happen, let me just point out Cameron Murry also failed in that tackle, admittedly from the other side of the ruck.

I watched the Sunday game played in the mud and Amone did take the ball up strongly but he consistently failed to break the defensive line, I don't recall him making a break just being held up over the line. Sure, he played hard and made know mistakes but it wasn't first grade defense like the defense dished out by Whywerra-Hardgreaves (?)
I think maybe Amone will be a lot better when Bennett decides the time is right.
