Signings for 2020 and future looking team

Ravalawa and Lomax are both right side players and Lafai still has one more year to run on his contract. So far I have not heard of Lafai moving on for 2020 however, Maybe the back five could be:
1. Lomax
2. Pearson
3. Ravalawa
4. Lafai or Masters
5. Saab

Now IF we can sign the Turbo brothers then:

1. T Turbo - expensive, Kangaroo and SOO quality Rep with size and speed - 1m
2. Saab - low cost, Junior Australian Rep with size and speed - 200k
3. Lomax - low cost, Junior Australian Rep with size and speed - 250k
4. Pearson - low cost, International player with size and speed - 200k
5. Ravalawa - low cost, International player with size and speed 200k

A 2.05m backline with size and speed and a big upgrade on what we have now. This backline has the potential to be very competitive in 2020.
In regards to Rava and Lomax both being right side players. It is more natural for right handers, which is the majority, to pass the ball from left to right. So if Rava and Lomax are both right handed, left centre would probably be their natural position. I had never thought about it before, as when I was growing up, we had inside and outside centre, but I would rather play left centre than right. I would probably get better ball distribution from my halves at centre and it would be more natural passing to my winger. In saying that Lomax does have a very good right hand flick pass, some call it the Gidley Flick. So he would probably be better suited to the right than Rava.

This thread is comedy, I'm unsure how much of it is sarcasm and what are real statements. Possm and Frank have got to be having a laugh right?
I can assure you that there has been no sarcasm from me on this thread. lol

Is that sarcasm?
No. lol and that wasn't sarcasm either. lol

In regards to signing Tom Turbo. I don't just hope that we are planning to chase his signature, I expect it. We have Widdop leaving on a reported 950K, we have apparently told Dufty to look elsewhere, just with those 2 players, we can afford to offer Tom Turbo INXS of 1 mil a season and we should already be looking at getting TPA's for him too. We have been looking for a top line fullback for a long time now and Tom is the best one coming off contract next. We did chase him before and I expect us to chase him again. Whether we can land his signature is another story.

All the other players I suggested we sign, are off contract either this year or next year. The prices I estimated were genuine. We could sign any of those players.

This club signing Turbo brothers is pie in the sky.
what is disgraceful is even with the knowledge of JDB siuation the only replacement we come up with is a Melbourne reserve grader.
other clubs Souths, Melbourne are swapping 1st graders and we get this.
i am so pissed off with the management of the club, the cronyism, and of course the totally unnecessary re appointment of an imposter of a coach.

I know..

Apparently Jesse Bromwich was happy to walk away from his long term high $$ contract to take up a 6 month gig for minimum wage, but we weren’t interested..

Honestly think we should chuck a sneaky mill at Jake Marketo, would be a killer signing and can build a team around him. So sad we lost him, would be hard to get him back since he’s been so successful since he left

Possm...do you ever stop and think that they probably want to stay at Manly who will move heaven and earth and afford to keep them and offer them their MV. Why would they even contemplate coming to the Dragons. Even with new coaching staff, recruitment officee, CEO and plenty of TPA's. It wont happen they will be at Manly until they retire or Manly no longer exist.
Makes you think though Manly would have to have 3 x $1 million players on their books where most clubs have just or close to 2.
Yes for sure I stop and think that Manly will move heaven and earth to keep them. I think there is a 90% chance Manly will keep the Turbo brothers. We have very little chance of signing them especially if we still have Mary.

A left to right pass is more suited to be a right centre to a right winger. A left centre would pass left to his winger.

Possm- if they’re a 90% chance of staying then you’re giving them a 10% chance of moving, which provides us all with hope.

What are the contributing factors to that potential shift and how could we improve that percentage to say 12%, or even 15%?

Positive factors in moving to SGI:
We can afford to sign them at 2m package deal.
We do have a vacant first grade spot open for them.
If we have a new coaching staff, that will substract one big negative.

Negative factors in moving to SGI:
Their obvious preference to stay at Manly0
Our current coaching staff.
Maybe the availability of good TPA.
The Manly coaching staff and team mates.

Frank, you are wasting your time with these clowns. Stop wasting your time in here and start sending your ideas directly to Millward. I’m sure he would welcome the out of the box thinking.

Yes, but these would already be factors in the 90%/10% split, would they not?

I’m trying to understand what are those little things we could change to boost us up to change the split to 88%/12% or even 85%/15%..

It's the mole so take it as you will but he has stated the the Bulldogs potential offer has the turbo boys unhappy with what manly can offer. Also stated rapana will need to take a pay cut to remain at Canberra.

Controversial - I think we have a pretty good team when you really analyse the players:
5 SOO (6 if you count JDB). Hunt, Vaughan, T. Sims, Friz and Norman
Tier 1 international - Graham
Tier 2 internationals - K. Sims, Lafai, Ravalawa, Lovodua, Aitken
Juniors that have played Aust schoolboys level inc Lomax
A couple in the U20's SOO - Blacker and Saab.
Not too shabby if you ask me.

There are 2 glaring issues with us imo.

1. Most obvious is the coaching staff - development of players especially in skills areas is non-existant, Dufty and Aitken prime examples. Add to this our "game plan" and lack of bench management.
2. Player prototype - the game is moving (back to?) to the tall, rangy back, with speed and confidence. Ponga, T. Turbo, CNK, Xerri, etc. Our players are short, have some speed, but no confidence. We have Lomax, who is being pushed from pillar to post in just about every position just to accomodate a few favourites. Saab, who is going to he very good, but where would he play given now Rava and Pearson seems to be the "in crowd". A couple of tall forwards who havent developed. Examples;
Fullback - T. Turbo, Ponga v Dufty
Wings - Addo-carr, Cotric, Vunivalu etc v Pearson and Rava.
Centres - Mitchell, Xerri etc v Aitken and Lafai
Props - Pangai jr Haas etc v Lats, Graham, Lawrie etc

I think you get the picture

We need Lomax at fullback, a tall rangy centre and a prop with speed and size

But most of all we need a coaching staff that can "coach", because in reality anyone who signs with us will only play the power game and have to he happy with scrapping and fighting for 8th spot on the ladder.
