Danny Levi is on the outer at the Knights. I’d be looking at him but I’d say the Dogs are in the box seat.

Good news
Eels back-rower Manu Ma'u is facing a fine after being charged with a grade 1 careless high tackle. The fine will be $1150 if he makes an early guilty plea.

Assume that means that Evans was not charged for that nothing tackle.

The worst thing is that Perineum was actually a player, and knows full well the difference between an illegal tackle and a legit one. What a pillock.

I’m not usually one to blame refs. You take the good with the bad most games. Henry Perenara is the exception to that rule. He’s either so incompetent he shouldn’t be there when we are playing, or worse.

We will still be making a play for RCG and I am hearing Welch has an option for 2020 to stay in Melbourne and if I was him after the latest injury setback, I would be taking that option.
Regarding RCG's huge contract, this discussion on Triple M implies that there is no legal requirement for the Panthers and Eels to evenly divide the entirety of what the player is contracted for. Campbell-Gillard is able to negotiate any settlement he wants with the Panthers, as well as negotiate whatever deal he wants with the gaining club: https://www.triplem.com.au/story/th...n-why-rcg-is-set-to-leave-the-panthers-144685

Also, with the two broken jaws I was surprised to see he has still played 20+ games every year since his debut: http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/players/roger-campbell-gillard/summary.html

Am I missing something? Why would what the player gets be evenly divided?

Evenly was probably the wrong adverb anyway. What I meant was that there's an idea that for the Panthers to offload RCG they will have to pay the entirety of what the gaining club is unwilling to cover. I believe that would only be the case if the player demanded every last penny (from whichever club was willing to pay) in order to agree to change clubs.

So if RCG was on $3.5M over five years he could theoretically agree to a payout from the Panthers worth $500k, and then sign with the Eels for $2.5M over four years, forgoing the other half a million, but also coming off contract a year earlier.

Dunno why he would though. I wouldn't.

Yeah, I remember in recent times Aaron Woods was said to have lost money by moving from the dogs to the Sharks. And just a few weeks ago Josh Reynolds said he'd be prepared to lose money to change clubs. I never thought it was the case anyway. But there could be good reasons for taking a bit less to move, such as playing first grade and getting a better payday next time.

Like der. You needed to hear that discussed to be aware of it? It's bleeding obvious ffs! He could say pay me nothing if he chose to. The issue is players usually want ALL their money as you said you would. That's why it is usually a tug a war between the two clubs of the final amount each will pay.
