He can kick a little. But other then that Shaun Lane would offer as much.
For Jakes development he is better in NSW cup playing 80mins. Perfect for the kid. These short stints in NRL won't help him. He needs minutes.

Both were immense.

Papali'i was good in attack, but lazy in defence.

Junior was good when he was on.

I thought our ruck defence looked great with Matto on the middle.

Terrible performance, but it's only round 1.

My assessment:

RCG is in the top 3 props in the game.
Papa and Kaufusi are surplus to our needs which is why this year will be their last year with us.
Gutherson started off poorly but his cool head was needed at the end.
If I ever see Brown moved to the centres again to accomodate Jake Arthur at 6 I'll deadset lose my shit.
Bailey Simonsson had the worst debut on the wing since Gutherson debuted for us in the same position.
Lane was the best player on the field and gives tremendous bang for buck.
Nathan Brown should be back next week although I thought Matterson played well.

Arthur did nothing wrong. But what does he actually do? He looks a very boring half in the making. For him to be NRL level he would need an A+ kicking game, excellent execution and a cool head and be able to direct the team around and make good choices. He has zero spark about him so must be very good in those other areas to suceed

For his age he's already very good in those areas. You'd be making a big call to say a 19 year old halfback already playing at that level won't become a genuine first grader. He obviously isn't one yet but it'll be a long time before he is the dominant half in this team. How good was Townsend by the same age? He hadn't even played first grade.

Junior over plays his hand sometimes. I felt he did today.
Mahoney has 4 run meters with 58% possesion. Its not good for a modern day hooker.
