I didn't compare the skill level, or footy brain, of Jake, and Sterling - I pointed out that Sterling wasn't very fast, but had a great career.

Jake is not even on the same planet as Sterling when it comes to skill, and footy brains - but Jake is young, and might be able to hone his craft.

Different game and era. 5 m rule and players were part time footy players back then. Most drank and smoked before, during and after training sessions. Players now are professional athletes that follow strict training/diet programs to extract the absolute best from their bodies. There’s no places for weaknesses in the nrl. It’s tough, it’s brutal. Too many flaws in JA’s game to be anywhere near grade.

if I’m going to be completely honest here, Ba has taken the piss out of the club naming him most weeks, this season.

in years gone by, he’s dropped club legends mannah and moi moi. Even this year dropping brown was a huge shock. Yet he’s found a place for his son in the team, without hesitation.

IIRC moi moi even pleaded with Ba to play one last game in front of the eels faithful. Could of been a milestone game or last rnd of the season.

Why not compare him to other slow halfbacks? It's unfair to compare him to quick ones.

I assume the point people are making comparing JA to Sterlo is that if we gave up on Sterlo when he was 20 because he was slow we wouldn't have seen the best of him in his 20s

If possible, ideally, yes.

But if he can be coached to work on his skills set, and footy brain, then his lack of speed may not matter that much.

Peter Sterling wasn't lightning quick, but he was smart, and skilful.

I'm not giving up on Jake - he's only just turned 20.
