I want brown to be our x factor at fullback.

I just think his game will goto the next level when he can chime in on both sides of the ruck

Brown would want to stay with Moses in the halves. It’s not just about more money being left for him, it’s about long term success and playing in finals too otherwise everyone would have signed for the Dolphins.

That depends on how much more the Dolphins are offering and whether or not its enough for Dylan to be swayed.

Why is it not possible that Dylan values an additional 100k a year over the probability of more success?

I assume we upped our offer to Moses. It will interesting to see now what the ramifications will be with retaining Dylan Brown.

I assume moses would probably want a 3 yr plus 1 yr po.
So to 2027

Dyl maybe a 2 yr extension to 2025

How long do u think they'll sign for

Will we then lose ja, sanders and the 5/8th

Like when we lost hodgkinson and maloney

I see where you’re coming from.

gee I hope we don’t extend Moses or brown to keep an average player, or worse someone untested.

Yes.

But there is also something called Squad balance. If we have paid additional to our initial value of Moses; it will reduce the amount we are able to pay his halves partner (or allocate to other positions).

you’re making out as thou they were on 350 k each. They already on Good coin. Cap is going up and keeping them will be the key to any success we hope to have.

But you explicitly state that Dylan will now likely leave. Why is that? Maybe we've spent less on second-rowers so we can spend more on halves? Or the money we have currently allocated to outside backs in '23 we've allocated to spending more on halves from '24 onwards? Why is it that you've pointed out Dylan? Maybe Sivo/Blake will leave? Maybe Simonsson won't take up his option?

Of course there are going to be exceptions to the balance; plenty of lesser teams make these sacrifices. But it is far more probable that the more we spend on the Moses the more likely Brown will leave.

The cap increase is irrelevant. Whatever they are offered, by us or any other club, will be determined with the salary cap increase in mind. Clubs and players/agents will be using the salary cap to assess how much any given player is worth. The cap is going up for everybody and the top players will be valued as percentages of the cap anyway, even if it’s not explicit in their contracts. The players at the bottom will all be assessed against the minimum salary, whatever that is.
