It looked bare.<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">An amazing return to Newcastle<br><br>Thank you for attending <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/MagicWKND?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc^tfw">#MagicWKND</a>

I think the concept has run its course sadly. It looked bare.
Rather see a double header at St.James.I think the concept has run its course sadly.
If it wasn’t for vegas I’d like to see super league try an all Lancashire double header season opener at the newly expanded etihad stadium or something similar like an all Yorkshire double header at elland road when the redevelopment is completed.Rather see a double header at St.James.
eh? It got 64k to it lol.I think the concept has run its course sadly.
Best me to iteh? It got 64k to it lol.
“It maintains the momentum that has been building since our record opening night attendance in February, the historic Super League fixture in Las Vegas in March, and a record-breaking Rivals Round in April.Super League ‘Magic Weekend’ results
- Leigh Leopards 26-24 Catalans Dragons
- Hull Kingston Rovers 54-0 Salford Red Devils
- St Helens 4-17 Leeds Rhinos
- Huddersfield Giants 12-10 Hull FC
- Wigan Warriors 22-20 Warrington
- Castleford Tigers 4-22 Wakefield Trinity
Needs to be getting much more than this for me and attract more locals.eh? It got 64k to it lol.
It is in top 3 rounds for attendance for the season. Best magic weekend attendance on a sunday since 2013 (when there was 14 teams), best overall attendance since 2018.Needs to be getting much more than this for me and attract more locals.
first couple of years in Newcastle threatened 70k.
All fair points and indisputable facts but I honestly thought and think Newcastle could be so much more successful crowd wise in terms of attracting even bigger crowds and more locals. It is in top 3 rounds for attendance for the season. 32k each day for 3 games is fine. SL makes some money, gets more media attention and fans have a good time. Whats not to like?
Its doing fine, hopefully it grows but looking at historical data 62-67k is the norm attendance for the event. Its incredibly difficult getting people to buy tickets to a sport they have no interest in.All fair points and indisputable facts but I honestly thought and think Newcastle could be so much more successful crowd wise in terms of attracting even bigger crowds and more locals.
I had so much hope for RL in the north east region 4-5 years ago with the thunder playing at Kingston park and getting investment from the guy who owned the falcons etc.Its doing fine, hopefully it grows but looking at historical data 62-67k is the norm attendance for the event. Its certainly one of those areas with potential. But even with big money backing union has struggled there. Like Salford, these cities are so dominated by football it leaves little room for anything else. Falcons have crowds on par with Huddersfield and are soon to go bust unless they can find another rich person willing to waste money.I had so much hope for RL in the north east region 4-5 years ago with the thunder playing at Kingston park and getting investment from the guy who owned the falcons etc.
there also seemed to be a lot of grassroots development going on in the region at the time as well.
