Why is Cogger kicking for touch when he struggles for distance and we have Crossland on the field who has a big boot, turn that 20m gain to 40m.
Been thinking that for ages. Even Sharpe has a bigger boot. We only make 10m on a penalty all the time. Other teams make 40m sometimes.

Players aren't stupid so it must be a coaching thing. Kicking in general play doesn't matter because we never challenge bombs anyway.

I live in WA, so the game kicked off at 4pm for me and I was unable to watch it due to being at work. I was in my office by that time and had the NRL.com game update thing going. Going by that, the first half looked good. It was a nice, happy time watching our score going up fairly rapidly. I did see at some point it said 'Bomb kick: Jack Cogger', and I thought, 'No he didn't'..!

By midway through the 2nd half, I was by myself so I tuned into MMM Newcastle's call of the game. Apparently Marzhew came off because he was injured, not just hooked. Maybe they didn't explain that on TV? It's hard not to be disappointed at the result of the game, especially after being up 20-nil early on, but my frustration is tempered due to not actually seeing the game. After reading all the comments here, I'm glad I didn't see it.

Let's see what crap they dish out next weekend. At least we can get on with our weekends now and enjoy what's left of it!

If you want a club with a history of losing that’s actually kind of charming and a bright future ahead, the Perth Bears look pretty good…
Hey, my 2nd team have never even played a game yet! Give them time before they can become the next 'lovable losers'..!

I really hope the Perth Bears start fresh. New club, new history, ect. I will find it hard to fully support a relocated N.Sydney team pretending to be a new WA club.

I have a theory. We started the game expansive because the Titan's middles were super strong. So we didn't run one out but passed 2 or 3 players wider of the ruck. It worked tremendously. Frizz, Leo and especially Jacob were bending the line with every run because they weren't being gang tackled by 3 or 4 huge forwards every run.

We got ahead excellently (off the back of our amazing attacking talented outside backs) but conceded a freaky try at the end of the half.

The boys go in, AOB (out of fear) decides to go back to just tucking the ball under the arm and just telling the players to grind out the next 40 minutes. I have no evidence of this but I think that's exactly what the game plan would have been changed to.

If we just stayed strong and stuck to the original game plan, I have no doubt we go on to win that game. Titans would have started throwing the ball around and making more mistakes and we probably snagged a try or two more and finished the game 34-10 or something like that.

Once or twice is chance but nearly every single game for the past 6 years, we have come out after the halftime team talk a worse outfit. That's a pattern. Anyway, hopefully the media is all over AOB start Monday.

That win was 100% on Tino. Titans had AJ, Campbell or De Groot supporting him on every run and Newcastle had no answer to his offload.

That’s what player KPP needs to be. We’d be lethal next year if we had a forward with an affective offload and Ponga, Sharpe and Brown in the side.

I think the tide was turning before that try was scored

I was ok with the Sharpe obstruction. He was far enough from the play to not be directly involved and he wouldn’t have changed anything if he wasn’t clipped. Best didn’t change a single thing that he was doing defensively either.
He's one man in from where the overlap occurred so he's 100% involved. That's how it's usually refereed anyway.

I think KPP has been coached out of it. In his early days he was holding the ball like a basketball looking for support but never was anyone there to backup.

Sharpe was the 4th defender in and after De Groot’s cutout pass was 20m from where Sami crossed the line. He was never going to have any impact on stopping that try.

He was third defender in and one away from where the overlap occurred. Bunker would normally consider that as being part of the play.

It doesn't matter that he (or Best) probably wouldn't have stopped the try, he was denied the opportunity to.

You guys catch Stephen Crighton do that and score today? Or was it an assist? Wish KPP would just play his natural game. His defense is so good...

The press conference did not suggest he told them to play conservatively and protect the lead. In fact, it indicated the opposite, and I reckon the telling down the microphone from the coaches box suggests they weren’t following a game plan.

I get it - you don’t like the guy - but man you talk some shit.

Alright. Thanks for the info. Happy you like him and want him to stick around!

I’ve made it pretty clear the last few weeks I’ve lost some faith in him and he might not be the right guy for the team,

But to suggest that was a game plan was rubbish. His frustration in the second half was there for all to see.

The big problem for AOB right now is that the players are digging him a hole. He’s not coaching them to drop the ball and fail at basic game management.

However it’s clear that whatever he is trying to do with them isn’t working or they’re no longer listening. Which means it’s probably time for a new voice.

Your theory is terrible. No matter how much you hate him, no coach actively coaches a team to go away from something that is working.
