Last month of football we've been on an upward trend. Getting some things right. Now out of the bottom 4.

Run home:

BYE
Warriors
Bulldogs
BYE
Eels
Rabbits
Tigers
Titans
Knights
Storm
Raiders
Bulldogs
Dragons

Looks pretty doable making a run for the 8. It's not a very scary draw.

As bad as the Warriors game is we are quite fortunate to spend the next month of games in Sydney. Dogs, Eels, Rabbits and Tigers will all be played at Commbank.

I think 4/4 is absolutely achievable there. After that I think some more losses will come.

We basically have to be almost locked in by that storm game cause that last 4 games if all teams are somewhere near full strength then it will be tough to go 4/4 or 3/4 even, so we want to be pretty solidified in the top by then.

Yeah by that stage the real teams start flexing. We are a long way off that.

The month of Sydney games coming up should help. Less travel. The sameness of Commbank maybe helps us out too. Home or away fixture it's the same ground each time.

Origin will end a few seasons, I can just feel it.

The Sharks are playing some alarmingly bad football. They might be the team that slides from the 8. With their lack of rep players it's very disappointing from them.

Cowboys too. Especially if Dearden starts for QLD.

We need to finish 8th and the Sharks 5th cause we all know how good they are in finals...NOT.

Then we can create some more history by winning from 8th.

I think we can get to 5th of sixth. Lose in two weekends time versus the Wahs, and then go on a little run. Game against the Dogs will be huge.
Our squad is still better than both those sides. Time for Ivan and Nathan to stand the f**k up.
All we need is for our forwards to hold their own

I tend to agree. Especially (believe it or not) after watching last night.
W/T's gifted numerous penalties to piggy back them up field. A couple of calls (which left unchallenged) could meant further problems.

But among all of this Penrith hung tough. I'm noticing Tago is playing better each week with greater confidence. Little Balize has surprised me (in a good way) with a number of his tackles and defensive reads. Young Casey passed a couple of times last night which led to tries. Him and Milky along with Blaize are working better each week as a unit.

Things are slowly improving. Big Paps playing his best footy since he left Parramatta. Young Patea coming along nicely as an impact forward.

Obviously many things also need to improve. But I'll leave that to others, and just balance out the chat with some positive stuff.

We're fine when playing set for set football. Second best defensive team in second halves. Juat have to adjust for overly sensitive refs mostly in the ruck. Give up that half a second in the tackles if they must. Ivan has to be on it.

We sre playing like a bottom 8 team atm.

We are a long long long way off being a force in the finals let alone making it.

We need to change up the game plan. Its just not working atm in attack and we are lacking a prop who can get over the advantage line so need to use yeo as just a ball runner from now on.

I have viewed the LU forum for a few years without ever making an account and posting, but now is the time.

The problem with the NRL ladder is that the byes constantly skew where everyone sits, and do not give a real view of position (for example, the Cowboys are in 6th spot with 5 wins and a draw, ahead of many teams who have 6 wins, but have had fewer than the 2 byes that the Cows have had).

If you adjust for the byes (that is, remove them), we are in 10th spot (11 points), 1 point behind the teams running 6 to 9 (on 12 points).

Albeit, this method means that some teams have more 'games in hand' - games to play, so more opportunities to accrue points - but that is what they are - opportunities to accrue points, not guaranteed points.

First of all welcome aboard. Always good to have more points of view.

I really don't know why people get wound up about this (not you in particular, as it's a common gripe) It means three fifths of f**k all until the final round.

Its not so much where we stand on the ladder that concerns me..

Its how weve been playing. Which is not good. Even games weve won havent been convincing.

The best weve looked was understrength in a loss to the storm.

Craig was shitting himself in the box during that game, you could clearly see him thinking "f**k we can't beat these guys come September".

We have yet to play anywhere near that level again. Flogging the Broncos is a close as we have got I guess.

Keep your powder dry.

The Bulldogs will get a taste soon.

Seriously though, does anyone watch the Bulldogs yesterday and think we can't beat them? Or watch the Raiders v Rabbitohs and think we're so far behind them? Both good teams in good form that will improve further in coming seasons, but hardly teams I think are anywhere near us if we play at even 70% of previous years (currently playing at c. 50%).

This is gonna be some 5peat.

i think currently Dogs, Raiders & Wahs are performing better than us - but all we need is to keep winning and book a spot come finals - should that happen - we are the team you dont want to play - all the recent history is on our side - we'd have a mental edge before a ball is kicked

just gotta keep winning for now
