Man good to see joash look a little better offensively and run a bit more. Still so much to improve but hopefully the next few weeks build him some confidence to develop his running and passing which ideally translate at 5/8. Defs hope were still looking at external options though.
He looked good but FMD

His head would have been on the spit if Walsh was onside.

Game of inches they say

Joash was on the right side tonight

Was pretty average:

Hawkins 4 runs 9 m. 76% defence 6 missed (19 made). 1 error which lead to a try

V

Papalii (against Canberra) 10 runs, 63 m. 1 TA. 72% defence, 8 missed (21 made). 3 errors
Yeah I thought Hawkins was ordinary. Threw a nice pass for Russell to put JAC away for the winner, but the commentators carrying on about him overcalling Moses... how do they know who made the call to go left? It could've been the 'eyes up' hooker that we just paid big money for. The dummy half is always the first decision maker on every play.

Coincidence or not.... that the whole side puts in such an improved and motivated effort in the same week as announcements that the half-arsed duo of Matterson and Lane are moving on?

I think the effort was there last week, but when Canberra lifted a few gears, we just couldn't contain them.

I think the biggest influence was Mitchell Moses' return - he has such an influence on this team.

The effort has been there for over a month. We finally got a fair crack from the referees and the 50/50 calls. Last nights ref had no influence on the game. Last weeks game V Canberra, we were in that game to our eyeballs then Klown gives Canberra a 6 again at a crucial time, Young is tackled on the 4th, 39 m out from his try line, moves off the mark plays the ball beyond the 40 m line and the ref calls a 6 again for a ruck infringement, junior and Walker argued he moved off the mark. Same game, same ref, makes Lomax (at least two occasions) move back to the mark.

Injuries disrupted Russell's start - I think he's fulfilling the promise he has always shown. Is he a superstar? Definitely not. But he's always given me Luke Burt vibes. You need at least a few honest, reliable toilers in the top 17 so you can throw serious $$$ at the gamechangers and for me that's why Russell has a future in the team (at least in the short to medium term).
He gets a bit yappy at times time getting into the other team. You love to see it, he had someone a month or to ago biting pretty hard but I can’t remember who it was.
