The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

I hate it how they imply $180m will turn it into a state of the art stadium. Let's be honest, $180m buys one good grandstand and a bit of a refresh of the rest of the ground.

They might have better luck getting some funds if they focus on what the region will lose if they can't get some assistance versus the other narratives they've been painting (which has primarily been - other teams have received investment, so we should to)

100% agree on the second part

first bit i think there's scope to do some interesting stuff there if they are innovative.

Rebuild Kogarah into a 22-25,000 mini Commbank for Saints and Sharks to share.
Play all the Sydney games for the clubs there.
Out of town games could still be played in Wooloware and Wollongong
Not sure Kogarah is the right place, but agree that the best way to get government funding for a new stadium in southern Sydney is for the Dragons & Sharks to put forward a joint bid.

If you can take 10 Sharks NRL games, 6 Dragons NRL, get Sydney FC to agree to take a handful (most years they seem to be forced to take some away anyway) and then throw in the Women's teams matches for the 3 clubs and suddenly there's more of a business case than anything the Dragons or Sharks could achieve going solo.

That would make sense and save shark park for NSW cup and NRLW.
Does the NSW Govt have the appetite to spend $500mill+ on another stadium in Sydney though?

Where would the southern Sydney stadium be located?

Dont think a new southern stadium will happen.
Re- Shark park
They need to do some serious negotiations with NSW government. Will they let venues NSW run a new precinct?

What happend with the LC? I thought the development had ring fenced $18mill for its upgrade years ago, now they are having to borrow $35mill and it hasnt even been started?
Best hope people dont wake up to what a waste of time pokies are!
Article is totally wrong, that money is still there. They don't need to borrow $35 mill but they are not going to spend all their cash on it, they will spread the money around to other investments as well. It will cost $35mill, but will be a gold mine once built.

I’ve always thought somewhere between Waterfall and Heathcote. It’s midway between both districts with road and rail infrastructure already in place plus it’s future proofed when/if Saints make the permanent move to the Gong.

The only trouble with that is that there is a lot of National parks in those areas.

But the ground they own is a noose around there neck. It must run at a loss every game given the capacity and lack of corporate spots.

Sharks will end up just borderline broke, like they have been for most of there history.
