Still don’t understand what he was penalised for? He either plays the ball (six again knock on) or the half (tigers scrum) - how does that play result in a penalty? He’d taken 3-4 steps from dummy half
Only seen highlights. Did anyone in the commentary offer an explanation?

There used to be a note in the Tackle and PTB section regarding the ball clearing the ruck. Can't find it in the International Laws. From memory, cannot equate this call with anything I've read in the RFL or NRL rulebooks.

It’s sad because at that stage of the game that heroic effort should be being celebrated for winning the game. Out on his feet he dug deep and made what deserved to be and should have been a crucial match winning play.

But the Broncos are a big market.
Would have been on the referees’ tip sheet. Api was renowned for knocking the arms of the dummy half and jolting the ball loose. Then the NRL made it known that it was a penalty if you reach through the ruck and do it before the dummy half had taken a step (ie cleared the ruck).

Trouble is this time it was legitimate because the dummy half had taken a step. A result of the referee drawing conclusions from (presumably) having a tip sheet and not refereeing what they actually see .

Broncos’ showed a lot more resilience in defence than I thought they would . And it will only help them in the long run being forced to debut rookies due to injuries. That replacement hooker passes particularly well to both sides of the ruck. Kept putting it on a platter for Reynolds and made the field goal for Reynolds as easy for him as possible .

That pass by Mam to Shibasaki was sublime. The touch judge who called it forward must have failed year 10 physics. He didn’t take into account Mam’s forward momentum which is transferred to the pass. Was a bullet pass the type of which only Reece Walsh is capable of.

I was at the game and right inline with this pass. Live it absolutely looked forward, however on replay I think Herbert rushing out and the pass finishing infront of the defender made it look a lot worse then it was and agree it was a harsh call.

that’s the thing, the hooker had moved about 3ms clear of the ruck so didn’t understand the call. Anyways I’m not ref blaming, we had enough to win 2 games and really the game should have been out of reach for Brisbane by then.

It was a terrible call. He had cleared the ruck by a fair margin. Half on the ref for the wrong call, the other half on Luai for throwing away the challenge on a nothing burger just before it.

I think Luai challenged that dropped ball because he was more embarrassed than anything , hoping that maybe it would get called a strip. With His experience he should have known better.

He keeps getting complimented for his off field worth such as driving a great winning culture , but at the end of the day he is a marquee signing and needs to contribute more on the field. And the Tigers’ attack looked more dangerous and composed in previous weeks with Jock Maddon and Adam Doueihi in the halves.

It was an impressive win for Broncos because Tigers physically dominated the game and field position for the majority of the match. Impressive to grind a win out of that. Well done to them

I'm pretty high on the Tigers tbh. I really enjoy the style they're playing and they're playing with some proper grit. Definitely got a bit of a halves issue though.

It’s a weird scenario … Madden playing well is a bit of a dilemma because nobody expected him to be this good.

hopefully common sense prevails and he’s back as our starting half on Thursday

credit to your mob, they showed with their defense why they won the comp
