Blokes like Taylor and Leuluai came with reputations for being sh:t so it was no surprise when they were. Meli was the worst of the Samoans by far. Michael Platt was pretty bad for Ireland early on. Considering he is arguably their best credentialed player, along with maybe Richards, some of the blunders he made were embarrassing.

Two villains I can think of off the top of my head is Solomona for his elbo shot.

And that wanker #4 for Tonga. You know, the wanker who scored the winning try against Ireland, & got in the face of the guy who tried to tackle him. Absolute tosser.

Wes is a legend .. I loved Stanley .. and as a biased Saints supporter, I've been very impressed with Costigan and Jeremy Smith who'll be a great backrow with Ben Creagh. Boyd was impressive at fullback as I expected.

The villains were obviously 9 and from a personal viewpoint the Coaches for stuffing up the team I selected in the Courier Fantasy League last week ..

Heroes
Stanley Gene - for being unequivocally the tournament's brightest star, and one of its best players
PNG's dreadlocked hooker, Charlie Wabo - for his inventiveness at dummy half and his first touch in WC footy, a flick between his legs v England!
Wayne Kerr
The entire Fiji team, including management - for creating a truly quality RL side and RL experience that will arguably benefit the game more than anything else produced by this WC, an assault on RU in the islands that will see RL take over top spot.
James Roby - for sticking it to the Aussies
Issac Luke - I finally got to see him play and he's mental!
The Aussie TV commentators - for not being Eddie and Stevo.
Adel Fellous - for showing pride in the French shirt, and for his hits and hit ups. None better in the comp.

Villains
John Monie - for doing to the reputation of French RL what the Fijians have conversely done to theirs.
Ricky Stuart - I just don't like him.
Colin Love and Ch9
Tony Smith and Paul Wellens - gutless and useless
Jim Dymock - Lam and Dakuitoga showed him what can be done with less heralded Pac Rim players, in terms of a balance between structure, flair and heart.
Samoa's haka - all the high-pitched screaming at the beginning reminds me of a bad 1950s Western, when the Apaches attack and ride around a stagecoach getting shot, as ultimately futile an exercise in aggression as Samoa's bid.
