The reason the crowd was late is we were all driving down in the traffic from Sydney

I'm a big anti-WIN person - but the crowd on TV looked amazing - I'm a bit suprised that was all that was posted - the hill reminded of the Roosters 99 wet game down there when they closed the gates - they got just under 15k then but that was with the old glasshouse.

its going to be a tough ask for the panthers game, friday at wollongong will make it hard on some people, on yesterday i was in the club until 1.00pm at it was packed, also their was a very long queue buying tickets, so yes that could be the reason for a late surge into the ground,i also thought the warriors supporters were great, nothing wrong with the atmosphere yesterday.

The thread is even more embarrassing when you consider that fewer people (14477) turned up at Kogarah two weeks ago to watch us play Newcastle - a NSW team that gets decent away support. Sometimes it is better to stay silent and be thought a fool... etc. However I expect a thread like this to pop up sometime again this year, since the Gong has most of the low-drawing opponents in 09

Weird thread... the hill was definitely packed yesterday and even though the fans were not as vocal/loud like in Kogarah, still think its a good athmosphere. I'm for one dont care where we play as long we win...

the knights game was a saturday arvo night game. im sure if it was on a sunday arvo and the sun was out like yesterday they would have sold that game out.

just a few questions, yes the Hill was packed but why doesnt the Northern Stand sell out? What is the capacity of WIN?
its hard to sell the northern stand out because their are too many obstructions (concrete posts) in front of you.i remember going their a few years ago against the dogs and i had this post in front off me. its about 14inch wide. couldnt belive they would sell a ticket to sit there. plus they charged me full price

Friday nights crowds will be interesting. I would like to know the mix between locals and travellers at both grounds

I need to come from Sydney where I work and I dont finish work till 5.30. Makes it hard to get to games there. Especially given peek hour traffic and the distance. Two hours is probably not enough time.

As a "stadium", WIN is shocking. No-one has put any money into the place, and it is starting to be seen around the ground (crumbling footpaths, negligible consession stands, etc). With that said, it isn't the worst stadium I have been to. Leichardt Oval, Penrith Park, and Brookvale Oval (as well as Belmore Sports Ground and Cararra Stadium in times gone by) quickly come to mind as RL backwaters worse off than WIN Stadium.

Just a question (nothing against you Vince) but what does any of this (majority of replies on this topic) have to do with pre-match lack of numbers, considering that was the purpose of the thread? People keep jibber jabbing about how its a WIN stadium biff thread but i'm only talking about NUMBERS!

SIT DOWN!

People have been saying the place is a piece of sh*t, and that's one of the things that stops them from turning up. I just added my two cents that WIN isn't the worst place in Aust for RL.

I dont have a problem with WIN - except for driving through Heathcote... 50km on a major highway wtf????. I was thinking the same 45 minutes before kick off wat is going on with the crowd but the crowd seemed pretty decent by 2pm.

... and to some of the Illawarra locals (not ALL but some) that are firing up on this thread about how the crowd looked good on TELE!! Why on TV. why didnt you get to the game if you love WIN stadium soooo much? Dont moan about it on a forum. Do something about it by showing up and packing out the place!!!!

SUPPORT THE DRAGONS!

sunday afternoon.

2pm kick off.

sun is out, blue skies.

yet there is hardly anyone there...

what a joke.

im at work and i'd give anything to be there for this game!

What the hell is wrong with you wollongong people!?

LMAO dude, if it was a wollongong side they would have been there. They arent stupid, they realise that the merger was nothing of the sort. Putting a couple of claytons matches down their for a sydney team isnt going to work.

Saints take the jnrs, use their name and sh*t on the footballing population of wollongong.

You wonder why people dont show up? Are you serious?

ITS NOT THEIR f**kING TEAM.

The merger between St George and Illawarra is more complex than just "St George taking juniors".

IT IS THEIR f**kING TEAM YOU REDNECK HICK!!! Grow a brain and don't rant on about something you have absolutely no clue about!
