My favourite was Mark McLinden for the Raiders.
Round 5 1998
Canberra 26 V Manly 20
Laurie Daley got hurt and Mark McLinden came on with Manly well in front. I think it might have been Andrew McFadden’s first game from the bench as well,

SBW is probabaly the best Ive seen. Straight away you knew you were watching someone very special rather then just someone having a special debut.

After seeing the Chooseday Night Football choices this week, what about some thoughts on best debuts ?

Some that have been mentioned in the CNF thread - SBW, Amos Roberts, Benji Marshall, Andrew Johns, Darren Lockyer & Chris Lawrence.

Israel Folau for Melbourne Storm Vs. Wests Tigers- Round 1, 2007 @ Olympic Park- Friday March 16th.

Andrew Johns 23 points (2 tries, 7 goals, 1 fied goal) vs Souths at the SFS in 94.

I was at the game, all of 12 years old, with my Dad. In the car on the way home to Newie he told me I'd just seen the debut of a genius.

As ever, the old boy was spot on.

Kris INU's debut was a pearler against Canberra, him and Hayne terrorised their right side all night.

Allan Langer in his first State of Origin.

yep, an eye opener - lot of people thought, "this guy's too small, won't be up to it..." - launch of a great career & NSW won a cracking SOO game, poor old Wayne Bennett - that priceless look of "Oh no" ( G rated version ) when Mark McGaw's try was awarded....

That I've seen, SBW.

Such a shame that he was lost to the game. The only convert that can't be replaced IMO.

F*ck off, we have not missed him one bit. He spent more time on the sidelines then actually playing. He produced spurts of brilliance but realistically in most of his games he did nothing, bit like Frank Pritchard. Most of the media hype surrounding him was for what he done off the field, what he was getting paid, and how good he COULD be. The game has gone on without. As always, the money hungry f*ckers leave and we replace them.

A.Johns run on debut gave us an insight as to what was in store over the coming years.
