Shows why the decision at the toss was the right one, the 2nd and 3rd innings of the game were always going to be good for batting, difference is the team batting last also has the pressure on them of trying to win

Better to put the touring side under that pressure, the team down 1-0 in the series than be chasing yourself against a quality spinner in Kaneria

do you think the decision to put your team in a position to make 127 the first innings was the right one ?

You're overreacting. We can't be number 1 all of the time. Just that so many people have been spoilt who only followed the game the last 10-15 years. They didn't follow the game back in the 80's when we were struggling under Border. When I first started following cricket at age 6 or so we'd won only 1 test or so in 3 years and we were the West Indies bitches.

I lived through the eighties so I know what that was like
But what is so wrong with expecting to be number 1 or even in the top 3 all the time. It is those who strive to maintain greatness who stay great. Those with pathetic excuses like 'we are can't be great all the time' are the ones who are doomed to failure. I don't accept lame excuses like this. No one should. At the moment we are not equal with the Poms, South Africans, or the Indians. They are heads and shoulders above us. These two series have shown us we are about level with the Pakistanis, West Indies and the New Zealanders. We have been dead lucky this summer against two of the worse current cricket nations AND if we lost a few more tosses OR if those two teams could catch AND if they both didn't have major injuries to key players we would not be 'sucking each other's dicks' about this victory. If there are no changes made between now and next summer we are going to get a major hiding from the English ...

The team never should have been bowled out that cheaply because as much movement as there was, most of the shots were shocking starting from the top

I do wonder if the side would have been bowled out as cheaply if Katich was playing

But sometimes you have to face up to some tough conditions 1st up to avoid them in the 4th innings

The Rankings are not important to me personally. We've only lost 1 home series in 1993. Over a LONG period of time we have been the best cricketing nation. Naturally others have caught up since Warne, Gilchrist, McGrath and Langer retired. We don't have as strong a team anymore but we're still right in the thick of things. You could say we were a bit unlucky to lose the Ashes and also the loss to South Africa last summer was quite close.

When was the last time England were even competitive in Australia? not since they beat us in 1986/87 that's a FACT. I don't care what the rankings say England are still ordinary and are only a few key injuries away from being poor. A drawn series could be a threat but I hardly fear a loss. Of course a drawn series and they'd retain the Ashes, so obviously we need to beat them.

Unfortunately it's the norm so not unexpected. People will be bitching they can't get any tickets next year because the barmy army will take them all but if they're prepared to travel to the other side of the world to see their team play and we can't even go to see ours play in the same city then we don't deserve them. Simple as that.

The Poms have vastly improved as a team as evident in their series against the South Africans. We may have won these two series this summer BUT they should not have been as close as they were. These were two very poor injury depleted teams and we were very close to finishing level with the West Indies and very close to being 1-1 with Pakistan. This team is not that good anymore due to poor selections, poor performances and poor coaching.

I think barmy army are some of the best cricket supporters there is, I would love to join them for theupcoming ashes. I know the ashes tickets went on sale to the barmy army a couple of weeks ago (I got an email about it), I believe they don't even go on sale here for a couple of months

Hughes is weak as piss

He is scared, he may be able to play some shots, but you can not teach someone not to be scared, he looked afraid when he bats, and afraid when he fields.

I would rather Marsh if Katich is not fit, Hughes looks like a boy playing against men
