This has to be the biggest myth going. Seriously the very top 1% star players are a rare thing. The Kangaroos still haven't been able to put out a better wing pairing than Sailor and Tuiqiri and how many years since they originally left for ruggers? If it was that easy to replace this calibre of player EVERY team would have a Folau in their side.

I fully agree. The Broncos and Queensland struggled for decent wingers in the few years after Sailor & Lote left as well. The Broncos were left high and dry.

To the people who say, well they came back anyway; how many years did we lose both Sailor and Lote for? Lote spent his prime footballing years in RU. RL missed out on that.

If RL was generating the dollars it should be generating, then it would be an absolute rarity to see players weighing up options to sign with rival codes.

i certainly wouldnt, but then again im not greedy

''A man is only as faithful as his options''- Chris Rock

Apt here.

The only reason you 'wouldn't' is because you would never have the opportunity.

I don't blame Folau for going. I don't think he should be picked for Origin now that he has made his decision- but let's stop acting like he raped our wives.

The whole argument that is based upon 'you'd go if you got a pay rise in a second' is really starting to wear thin.

If i was on 300k in Rugby League, doing what I loved from a young age, and got an offer to goto a sport that I could not begin to understand (AFL), then i wouldn't.

Sure the carrot dangled is quite nice, but i'd love to play league. And most chumps these days are on a sh*tty pay packet of around 50 - 70k a year. 300k a year is more than enough to be able to save a decent amount to invest in something when you retire (say, at the end of 10 years first grade).

I would be lucky to be able to look at a google image of 1 million dollars let alone earn 3m in 10 years.

He gets mroe money, but gets no Origin, no Internationals (and the travel opportunities that go with it, free ones I mean)

Don't really care, he's not that good and never really was....I never saw the hype bar jumping and catching a ball solidly.Which I suppose is fitting...

But I don't want him representing Queensland or Australia, he's made his choice...I don't see why the NRL should bend over for him.

28 tries in 28 games for the Broncos.

Can't get much better than that.

Don't think travel expenses will be a big deal when you are on 1.4m a year. :p

The traitor scored plenty of tries for the Storm too. The significance fades when we find out you were only in it for the money. His rep career should be over now if they are fair dinkum.

Yeah, but going on a trip overseas to do like an England France tour or something with a whole team. Free trip with good mates!

I guess if they win the AFL premiership, he might get to go play Irish Football in Ireland and eat f**king potatoes for 2 straight weeks.

And League is bigger than these two new fumbleball players, a new dynamic winger and fullback are currently out there playing park footy waiting to be signed....

Yep, everytime one of the code's best players leaves the NRL, just replace them with park footy players. No one will notice the difference.

Gee dude chill!!

The point being, he will be replaced, the funds available will allow broncs to sign a few juniors or another big name player....

But in time a young player will come through, why allow the actions of Folau to be all gloom and doom??

Does this mean that because Folou has signed we should all now be concerned about the future of our great game and start running scared?

OH NO FOLAU HAS SIGNED WITH A AFL CLUB WHAT SHOULD I DO!

I'm always chilled! I am merely pointing out that the argument that equally good players will come along straight away to replace the top stars who are leaving are a myth. We don't have a forward in the NRL like SBW, NSW doesn't have a centre as good as Gasnier, the Roos couldn't replace Sailor etc etc.

Of course the NRL will continue and do well, it is just that little bit more diluted every time a star leaves.

Folau is a media whore and money junky. Played sh*te football until it mattered most and the stakes were high.

I have no respect for him at all. He can f**k off.

Excuse me for not giving a f**k about what you say, given you can barely construct a sentence. To be fair to you though, you sound like you are no more than 14 years old.

I would rather watch Israel Folau play than Taulima Tautai. I would rather watch Karmichael Hunt than Rhys Wesser. I would rather watch Luke Rooney than Michael Bani. I would rather watch Craig Gower than Scott Dureau. I would rather watch Mark Gasnier than Adrian Purtell. I would rather watch Sonny-Bill than Gary Warburton.

Just because you're happy to watch the NRL battle to sustain the standard rather than improve it doesn't mean everyone else has to be as f**king stupid as you.

Greedy or smart? that's a lot of money, heck he could retire from all sport when he's what 24 or 25 and be setup for life..

Greedy. He went to Broncos to be with Family not money . Now to AFL, This is how dumb these players are. at 21 he had the potential to get $400k for the next 10 years in the end $4m. Yes this payday was big but should this circus be a flop which it will. Will they re-sign him in 3 years for anywhere near thew same.

Also epic fail with this. As a WS resident possible the target for there crap sport WOW they signed a league player born in Minto. But sorry AFL I see him as a QLDer. Should someone like Jennings that I rate move. I still won't watch your gay sport so just F**k off idiots

This is the crap that annoys me. I see from your Avatar you like Buderus he left yet your still supporting League. Yes it's a shame but I love league long before these players came along and long after they are gone I still will.

No 1 is bigger then the game.

Oh here we go, keyboard cowboy, "barely construct a sentence”, 14 yo etc etc... blah blah blah YOU ARE A IDIOT…..

Nice that you have listed the elite with the fringe players you goose. My point was and read it slowly knob jockey, one day someone will replace him, there is a kid out there playing park footy right now (in time) will rise up to the elite level…

Have you got this….

you are kidding aren't you? You know as well as I do that this is a safe bet for him, if it fails he will have every NRL club fighting for his signature in 2014 and will still earn a shed when he moves back to RL. If you were really honest how many wouldn't take the silly money being offered him? I know I would.

AFL are the merkins in this whole thing, not Folau... Who would seriously reject a job paying nearly 3 times as much as what you are currently earning? No one
