Looking at that video I wouldnt say he actually "struck" the ref......more like accidentally brushed past him.

Totally agree with you MedievalKnight. More of a brush ... totally accidental from what can be seen. Probably get a couple of weeks on the sidelines to cool down.

I reckon it was intential, but purely a heat of the moment thing, and a week off the let him know not to touch an official is punishment enough.

Not exactly much in it, is there...though he does get the moron award for even coming close to bumping the ref on his way back to the defensive line. Hope he learns his lesson :)

Given there was no raised elbow at all it certainly tarnishes the ref's report a bit...hopefully that helps out Ailaomai's case a bit and he is back on the field soon.

he's an idiot for going near the ref at all afer he's just had a disagreement with him, but there's sweet f**k all in that, surely. there is clearly no raised elbow, not even close.

Yeh agreed perverse.

It looked intentional though which is even worse, but still not much in it.

A grade 5 charge is worth 525 points and he got referred without grading. SMH is suggesting 6 weeks.

Fair enough too. You don't touch a ref. Simple rule.

Two Warriors grabbed the ref insisting on a video referral last year and got a week off each.

Crossy grabbed the ref last year and got a week off.

Sure its dumb, but brushing the ref is not as bad as grabbing him.

If he got 6 weeks it would lack consistency.

What CRAP - if the girl in pink wasn't swinging his arms around like a windmill Josh wouldn't have even touched him. Sure Josh may have meant to pass the goose pretty closely but once again - if he wasn't swinging his right arm around no contact would have been made. My opinion anyway. Will probably get a week or two just to teach him and other players a lesson and show that they are protecting the pink brigade.

Could have quite easily ran around him. Intent is pretty obvious. This isn't grabbing the ref on the shoulders to talk to him - this is running in to the referee after a decision has gone against him. No excuse.

Wish all they had was this frame by frame.... he could plead self defence cos the ref karate chopped his neck the frame before.

Get this piece of shit out of the club if it happened as the freeze-frames show.
I know that everybody has high hopes for him, but that photo is pretty damning. We have a bad enough discipline problem on the field without the next generation showing that it isn't limited to the NRL squad.

If he gets 6 weeks, then he deserves it and it should be a lesson to all that the referee - no matter what you think of the decision - is to be respected.

it doesn't look any better in motion. definitely intentional... and a shame. i don't think he'll get too much time with it, but yeah it's sort of a cardinal sin of sport really, isn't it? supremely stupid and undisciplined.

To be fair to Josh, he was probably dizzy after making a few runs in the game and needed to come off for a spell
