Both should have been suspended. Yes hayne looks like a dick carrying on about it but it doesnt mean smith should have got off Scott free either.

LOL can't say i expect anything more from the halfwit, maybe those headbutts affected his memory. Or maybe he's just a halfwit which would be the more plausible scenario given he's about as sharp as a bowling ball.

Not defending anyone but from memory when Hayne sort of sat up a bit it put smiths dive off and cam got stuck in the middle of just a standard last pitch dive you see while a player is touching down and not doin it at all. Of course he got it completely wrong in the end and ended up with the knees into golden child but is a difference to Haynes effort where the knee was always coming in for first contact. Still the wrong thing to do

Who cares about that shit.

Smith had no need to lead with his knees, he could have jumped over Hayne quite easily.

Leading with the knees was never going to stop the try anyway. It's a dog act. It's an intentional act and any player that has ever done it should be suspended.

Jarryd at least had a chance to save the try because Goodwin wasn't in control of the ball.

They were both attacking a kick that was put into the ingoal.
Why would Hayne pull out if Goodwin doesn't have the ball?

Jarryd had the ball under his arm and was diving to the ground in the other instance.
That's the difference between the two.

Also you don't see the point of contact in the photo from 2009.
He connects with the side of his leg because he tries to get his legs out of the way at the last moment.

Smith connects with the point of his knee.
How much of the ball is he going to grab a hold off with his f**king kneecaps?

Fair suck of the sav mate, leading with the knees is stupid, ineffective and utterly pointless. Everytime.

Its the same as kicking at the ball. Its dangerous, highly ineffective, rarely going to prevent the try and is a massive risk to the players safety/health.

And players safety/health must be a vital concern, why else are high tackles and spear tackles punnished so severely?

Bryce Gibbs copped a suspensions for his much less severe 'knee' of Luke Burt. But he lead with his knees, it was uncalled for and he deserved the suspension.

As do both players in both these cases.

Hey Jarryd, remember that time in 2009 you cleaned up Bryson Goodwin with your knees and it was ALOT worse then what you got? No? Oh well proceed with your tear laden complaint then.

Now I know what Smith did wasn't good but of all people to whinge about it its someone who should have been suspended for it in 2009 but got off because he was the media darling at the time. FMD.

There is no comparison between the 2 incidents. Jarryd Hayne and Bryson Goodwin were both chasing a rolling ball towards the tryline, which Hayne was trying to stop Goodwin from getting to.

When Hayne scored his try, he was in open space with no-one near him and already scored. Cameron Smith could have stopped for a cup of coffee he had that much time to avoid a collision.

You wouldn't happen to be a Bulldogs fan would you? If I were you I would worry about your club actually developing local juniors instead of trying to buy premierships with a team full of imports.

Bluebags, having watched that footage countless times, I can assure you Hayne didn't decide to go knees first until after Goodwin had possession.

Hayne and Smith's incidents were both bad, both deserve punishment and it's a disgrace to the judiciary and league that Taylor can be outed for an extended time for his tackle and these two get absolute duck egg in the way of punishment.

I think bman26 is a Storm fan btw, but good on you for needlessly attacking Canterbury anyway. Hope you feel special.

Hayne should remember that he was only playing in the third game at all because he somehow escaped a striking charge for his cowardly attack on Jarrod Croker.

Quality contribution there Misty.

The fact is Hayne got away with something Ben Roberts was penalised and placed on report for just one week later.

Still doesn't take away the fact that Hayne and Goodwin were both competing for a rolling ball towrds the in-goal.

To even compare the 2 incidents is like chalk and cheese.

And what I said about the Bulldogs isn't about "feeling special". All the club has done for the past 3 years is go on massive shopping sprees buying big-name players and hardly promoted any juniors.

Every club buys marquee singings, but the Bulldogs have well and truly taken it to the nth degree.

I didn't think there was much in Smith's one. It was late, but even the photo shows he hit with the shins and not the knee. I wonder if that would have been an 8 pointer with the score at 30-24.

 @ Hayne going limp to draw a penalty and then covering as soon as he heard a whistle.

The guy has no integrity, he's only one level above SBW.
