Josh Homme

Have you seen Josh doing a very passable Jim Morrison in QOTSA's version of The Doors' Not to touch the earth ? Its on youtube ... probably one of the very few Doors covers i rate.

Yep i include Josh in my list too ... as I would with most 90s guitarists like ...

Josh Homme ... Queens OT Stone Age
Mike McCreedy - Pearl Jam
Kim Thayall - Soundgarden
Chris Cornell - Soundgarden/Audioslave/Temple of the Dog/Green River
Jeff Martin - Tea Party
Tom Morello - RATM
Dave Navarro - Jane's Addiction/RHCP
Jerry Cantrell - The mighty mighty mighty Alice in Chains
John Frusciante - RHCP
Kurdt Kobain - Thats how its spelled on the Bleach album btw - Nirvana
The chicks from the Smashing Pumpkins and White Zombie also rate highly to me
James Hetfield - Metallica is older than 90s but needs listing

man i could be here all day so i'll add one more ... Robert Johnson. He was so good they thought he used black magic to make his guitaring sound so good. All he did was play next to a tape recorder lol.

After going to the G3 Concert in Wellington last night, Steve Vai & Joe Satriani have jumped back up to the top of my list for favourite guitarists (I've always known they're awesome, but witnessing it live compared to youtube or CD's is just a whole other level).....

They both fiddle-dee-dee like no-ones business, but it's the pitch perfect high bends and the way they convey emotion in their playing (how they do it I don't know) that make you FEEL the music not just listening to carbon copies of what they've recorded like what some bands/performers do.

Speaking of Youtube, this is the only vid I can find so far, but it was one of my personal highlights (Satch's Always With Me Always With You) along with Steve Vai's Tender Surrender.

If you appreciate guitar playing I urge you to get one of these gigs while they're down under!!!! Best value for money concert I've been to I reckon.

I know I've already voted for Brian May as my absolute favourite, but having travelled to London to see him in July, seeing him live is just the best live experience I've ever had. Mind you, finally seeing him after 17yrs of really wanting to probably added to it!

I went and saw Slash (my #2) a few weeks ago, and he is awesome live too.
