I'll always enjoy looking back on Buderus career knowing he was good enough to win a premiership.

Times running out for Cam.

The best part will be when Buderus put in a man of the match performance for NSW.

Can't wait to see him rip in. He knows if he doesn't get it done this origin series or game 1 even, it'll be his last.

He's a rejuvenated player this year, can't wait to see him rip into Queensland.

intangibles = johns?
Johns had plenty of intangibles to go with his tangibles. in fact, his absolute greatest (in my opinion) quality was intangible. his ability to lift the players around him to heights they couldn't reach without him. players grew extra legs when that man ran out on the field. his presence alone was an ability unto itself.

I've watched every Newcastle game this season and I can safely say that Buderus has done nothing of note in any of the matches.

He was dominated in 2009 and looked half the player Smith was, he's 3 years older and slower while Smith has improved since then.

He will get slaughtered again.

Buderus has been solid this year. The problem is every other NSW hooker had been terrible for the first month of the season. Not until Farah put his hand up on Sunday had any hooker done anything of.note.

Buderus hasn't blown games open with line break assists and other attack this year, as others have been quick to point out, but he has looked fantastic in defence and anyone who knows what sort of player he is will know that if picked for Origin he will grow another leg. It also doesn't help that as a team we've been going pretty shit so far, with our combinations yet to gel. A few times he's made nice half-breaks from dummy half and then found himself looking around for support but there's been none.

As I pointed out about a month ago when Buderus' name was first seriously discussed, I wonder how much of the belief that he is 'old and slow now' comes from people actually watching things like his line speed or whether people are just assuming it's true because he's 34 now.

Price played Origin at 33, Petero at 35. Buderus isn't going to be busting the line and running 50 metres to score. NSW have enough talent in the backline and halves to take care of this. What he will provide is immaculate service from dummy half, reliable defence around the ruck and quick line speed, and perhaps most importantly, a cool head that's been in this arena many times before (ie. no brain explosions like kicking on the fourth from 35 metres out as soon as you get the lead).

If picked, he'll be the only player along with Luke Lewis that knows what it's like to win an Origin series. I know there is Gallen, Bird etc there for leadership, but Buderus' experience in a pressure situation like the game being decided in the last 10 mins could be invaluable.

lol its gonna be a fun time in the forums when Bedsy gets picked in front of Farah, again. You'll be able to see the Tigers fans meltdown from space

It will also confirm the stupidity of our selectors, again. It isn't only Tigers fans that want Farah over Buderus.

He has played 2 origin games. 1 he played well, the other he sucked but it is believed he played with a rib injury if I'm not mistaken.

Then the biggest farce of all occurred when Ennis was donated 7 jerseys.

We need a hooker with a kicking game and some creativity to take pressure off our halves, who are going to be up against it at the best of times.

Well that "rib injury" cost him reselection because that was the single poorest game from an Origin hooker I have seen, including any of Ennis's 7 appearances. Robbie has a lot of making up to do and aside from one CvC game on the weekend, he has given little reason why he deserves a 3rd crack.

Id love a hooker with a good kicking game too but I dont want to sacrifice other aspects that I deem more important. Patience, brains and ticker come to mind

I think it is laughable is going to be selected for Origin. He is well and truly past his prime. He has zero creativity - I don't think he even has a try assist this year.

He is very one dimensional, which is probably why he is seen to be so effective. Too many cooks can spoil a broth, so taking a back seat is sometimes the better option.

There are a handful of players that are better than Buderus at the moment. It really is a waste of effort to rubbish his selection though - because he is locked in. At least he has a recent winning record in Origin.

At the end of the day, he is not going to lose NSW the game. I just don't think he will be winning it either.

Who are these handful of players mate?

Noone has ever expected Besdy to be creating points, thats not what he brings to a team. Hes the guy you want defending your line or driving the pigs forward to make room for the guys who do create things.

Buderus is old
Gidley has always proved to be a gimp in origin except when he has played hooker
Farah sucks
Ennis sucks harder

So who do you pick from that?

Farah, Kingston and to a lesser extent Ennis. Happy to be shot down on Kingston, because he I am not 100% sure whehther he is a Queenslander. If Farah replicates the form he showed for City over the next couple of weeks, he should be the hooker for NSW - in my opinion.

At the end of the day I agree that Buderus can play the simple role asked of him. He will then probably be applauded as NSW's saviour.

None of those guys, with the exception of Farah in the CvC game, have been better than Bedsy has in the opening stages of this season.

FTR Id like to see Robbie get there, playing at his best he can be awesome. However I have no faith that he will gain that kind of consistency in the time frame left. The Tigers only have 2 games left before the side is announced (they have the bye in round 10). I simply cant see him getting the runs on the board before then

I wouldn't mind as I feel both should be there.

Hell if it would help our chances I would have Steve Turner on the wing
