oh well if its true and we're still paying a chunk of his money then there's a whole lot more off the books after this year :thumn

We've got f**king heaps to spend. We just can't announce all the signings just yet. It's going to be fun when they're all announced. A bit like Christmas.

The problem with this is...
Well first of all i think every other club has the same goal and plan.Good juniors and a winning culture. This is just common sense. Its not realy a secret plan and we wont be the first club to try and do this.Sometimes other clubs just get better juniors come thru.Thats sport.Im sure if SBW and Thurston stayed at the dogs they have a title in the last 5 year. But it didnt happen so now they wait for the next star to come thru.
Melbourne where lucky-They cheated to system to retain players. But they also get first pick of the best juniors in QLD.

Its a lot harder for a sydney team to win the comp-FACT.And i also think its ahrder for western sydney team to recruit and hold onto players.Would you rather live in penrith or on the northern beaches .
Beeing offered 300k and wake up on the beach or 350k to be out west.Id say its a 10-15% advantage for teams like the roosters and manly for simple reasons " lifestyle"

It was a two year contract with eight years worth of player options afterwards.

I'm guessing he'll keep taking up the option.

Oh and another problem with the pyramid system is i think it took 100's of years to build one.Its also out dated.Couldnt we find a system from china that works now for 2-3 years before it falls to pieces.I mean we will al be dead by the time the pyrmid is built

Ok, and there are posters who wonder why so little infpormation gets posted, it seems to give some the opportunity to keep ponmting fingers and carry on

If you wonder why it is necessary to have a plan, think about the last juniors that came through (Haynde. Mannah, Inu and Mateo) all from the Smith era, when Rocket got control with no in put from Hagan and DA, we have got nowhere. The Dogs have spotted and recruited, Kasiano, Tapai and Lafai to name a few, evem Manly dod better than us.

Hwne you create the base , you can add some decent first graders to nmake the siide competitve. I spoke to Reddy who said he never looked aty size or speed as it was skills he wnt for. So you get POH. who has good skills but will be tough to get to the size needed.

I dont like what is going on in terms of results, but fmd we need this to happen. to get a platform for the future. Otherwise we het what we have seen since BS left. At least my grandsons are winning in the junior league, that brings a smile every week watching them play

All very true. What clubs want to achieve is no dark art; I'm sure Anderson and even Hagan wanted to do the same thing. I'm sure Jason Taylor learnt a lot from Brian Smith about the same process.

But that's where knowing what to do and knowing how to do it isn't the same thing. How to structure this kind of system is a closely guarded secret in coaching circles, and coaches only know what they've learnt - either through working in systems that do it right, or learning from their own trial and error.

Sometimes other clubs just get better juniors come thru.

If you're just waiting for juniors to 'come through' then you're getting left behind. There's no law that says our junior teams have to be full of local boys; we're allowed to get our juniors from anywhere. So is every other club.

That's why Melbourne has such a great junior system.

Thats sport.Im sure if SBW and Thurston stayed at the dogs they have a title in the last 5 year. But it didnt happen so now they wait for the next star to come thru.

Right, and you know neither of those guys grew up in Lakemba. One is a Queenslander and the other one isn't even from Australia.

Melbourne where lucky-They cheated to system to retain players. But they also get first pick of the best juniors in QLD.

Why would they have first pick? Every club has scouts in Queensland.

Its a lot harder for a sydney team to win the comp-FACT.

True, and that's only because our local area is all of Sydney (not Parramatta), and we have to share it with eight other clubs. So any advantage we could have by signing players who live within driving distance from Parramatta Stadium, we lose because those players live within driving distance of every club in Sydney.

And i also think its ahrder for western sydney team to recruit and hold onto players.Would you rather live in penrith or on the northern beaches .

Who says you have to live where you play? Last time I lived in Sydney I lived in Concord and worked in Randwick. The time before that I lived in Balmain and Coogee and worked everywhere.

This ain't the 1800s.

Beeing offered 300k and wake up on the beach or 350k to be out west.Id say its a 10-15% advantage for teams like the roosters and manly for simple reasons " lifestyle"

You reckon Des and Crusher are sharing a nice flat in Punchbowl?

the second post I wanted to make ...

Bigfella - deadset you are quickly becoming one of the most annoying twats on this forum ..... you want to support everyone currently involved at the club and have faith in it all, fantastic! ..... but the sooner you wake the f**k up and quit this constant rubbish directed at anyone who doesn't agree with you the better off we'll all be

seriously! ... I recognise there are probably a small number of ppl who have some attachment to past management/coaches/etc, but the vast majority of people on here don't give a flying f**k about Fitzy or DA or anyone else gone by .... its about what is here now and how well we are doing now - and the fact is we are doing pretty much equal to the worst I can remember in my living memory - so people have every right to be fed up.

How do we know round 13 is the the start of the contract period? Wouldn't it be the end of the financial year, which is four weeks away?

Isn't Week 13 simply the cut-off date after which the player's current club no longer gets an automatic right to match any deal agreed by the player with another club?

Players contracts don't span a financial year, so I don't think it would have any special relevance here (I could be wrong). Any tax implications for players / clubs would revolve around either the timing of payments or services rendered, not of contract initiation.

Pretty much. I believe the NRL won't register any recruited signings prior to round 13, unless that player's current club gives them permission to do so. It's also the cut-off for mid season signings.

My biggest concern is that we are allegedly chasing the big name players - offering them shite loads of cash yet they don't sign because of this shite mess we are in - and can you really blame them?

Case in point - Trex

That's right. No use announcing anything prior to Rd. 13 as the player can backflip. Now, anything that is signed can be submitted to the NRL and it sticks.

We should have been talking to players since last November, when the option to engage them came about. Now, with the backflip period over, we should be locking them in and announcing them.

There was no point bagging the Club for not announcing anything prior to this week. As of now, however, they need to start producing some results in terms of recruitment.

Good post Delboy. I'd forgot we haven't had any juniors come through since Hayne,Mannah,Inu and Mateo.
