FWIW i dont rate Gavel, he's weak as piss reporter, but my thoughts on that steam from the fact he plays the raiders with the soft gloves... and he does it so he can get the inside word, so his mail will have some level of accuracy (The raiders have also been known to give him bum steers on purpose when it suited their cause so this could be one of them)
if the deal was only worth 350ish, with the cap increase i think the raiders would almost certainly be able and willing to match it and he wont move if we match it.
I doubt it's 500k, but my gut feeling is it will be around mid 400's to get him to leave the raiders
we also have the benefit that if we re-sign him, it will involve an upgrade on this years deal, so it's extra money in the bank on his 100k deal this year, rather than just the huge money he's getting next
