Nathan Merritt

Still think Morris should have shifted to the wing with Idris at centre. With Merritt, size was always to be an issue along with his poor defensive reads. We need to match Qld's size out wide. Did Qld actually ever attack out wide on the left? Every single play was designed to give them space to attack Merritt and it worked like a charm. Should be his only game, his defence just isn't good enough for this level

The biggest problem was our complete lack of kicking game. A Reynolds needs to come into the side for Pearce. Maloney should keep his place though

At the start of the year I would have laughed you off the forums but Idris has been pretty good all year.

David Williams was aweful in origin but at least he took some hit ups and scored a couple of tries. Merritt did less than nothing. BranVan's picture clearly shows all the NSW players sliding out while Merritt is caught coming in, ending up in no-man's land and exposing his wing. The only possible result was a try to QLD.

Any attempt to justify his play simply defies logic.

big hit!

LOL @ the Burrow banners after the Origin 1 side was selected

"NSWRL doesn't like us we don't care" - Obviously you do or you wouldn't of written it on a friggin bed sheet.

and

"Dopey Daley has no Merritt"
LOL

It's farkin embarrassing supporting the club with farktards such as these so prevalent in the ranks.

Merritt is a f**king spastic but not as big a spastic as the Souffs fans trying to defend his game.

People can argue that Daleys game plan was for Merritt to rush in, but he stuffed it up.

He had a shocker, and has to be dropped. No excuses.

Sad to say it, but that is the facts.

The moron inside him did no better, and never has either, but supporters from their club always come up with some sort of excuse.

I would have booked myself into an asylum if I was thinking that way at the start of the year but he has been one of if not the best centre in the comp this year. Playing a lot beter now then when he played Origin previously

rubbish, josh morris has contained inglis pretty well in the past. dumb daley decided to change the game plan and use merritt as a ramming useless defender because he obviously shit himself when he realised who he picked, or picked him to lose and make him look bad to shut the media and fans up.

What because GI didn't score in a game last year?

How many series have they won now? He has been there for how many of those games and been shown up?

Merritt won't be there in game 3, so there will be no excuses.

Sorry mate but either you cant count or your eyes are painted on

The numbers are there and Merritt made a huge mistake by coming in, repeatedly.

The numbers are there?

Imagine Merritt way out on the right marking Boyd. That leaves Morris marking Inglis, Slater plus Thurston on his own. Somebody had to come in there much earlier and attack Thurston, but Pearce and Lewis are standing back on their heels. It doesn't help that Pearce and Lewis are drawn by the decoy here too, leaving the outside men fending for themselves.

Merritt was told to rush up on Inglis. Still not the right choice here, but if that was the plan then obviousl cover from behind was part of it too and cover made it in behind, there should be no excuse for Boyd to push off Dugan and Pearce so easily.

Merritt shouldn't play another Origin, but lets not scapegoat him for other players who shouldn't wear the shirt again either

because marking up on greg inglis is a f**king breeze.

newsflash zigzag, no merkin from nsw will ever successfully contain that freak of a player. and Morris has done a good job imo of containing him on the ground.

As for your GI didnt score last year sarcastic comment, one was a knock on (from a kick), and from memory so was the other one (game 2). So who in the league can outjump Inglis?

WTF are you talking about? Thurston and slater are well marked. boyd is only one with free space infront of him, you blind, agenda driven merkin. just cop it that your precious merritt isnt a origin players asshole.

You can see that in that GIF that Morris has Inglis covered but has to swerve away and take off after Boyd because Merritt has rushed up on Inglis. Other players were covering Slater and Thurston. If Merritt stays on his man Qld probably don't score.

Worst kind of game he could have debuted in. When the whole team plays horribly, gives away penalties, gets sin binned etc and you're put under a ton of pressure inside your own twenty for most of the game, it's the worst feeling for a winger. It's tough when the rest of the team through their shit play puts him in that position and then everyone blames him when a try is scored.

Blaming him completely for tries he let in is like saying Boyd's tries were completely solo efforts. In saying that he clearly played poorly and if Stewart and Hayne are back they are the better option.

A few years ago Brett Morris did the exact same thing., in multiple games. I don't know how he is still there either.
