    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

Dec 2021 would have been a more appropriate time to do the whole tv-media rights deal for 2023-2027. Instead the NRL signed off an extension with Fox until 2027, back in May 2020, at the heart of the pandemic. Since then the media landscape has changed. Stan Sport launched in Feb 2021 and...

Plus Nine forced the NRL to scale back it's digital arm.

    18th club, whose next?

Some have more challenges than others.

    18th club, whose next?

They deserve to be on their own. PNG have enormous passion for the game. However, they do have challenges. How is it going to work? The time for them is not now. The 18th club should be either Perth or NZ 2. Perth does offer another metro, and I would lean towards them. But NZ 2 would be great too.

    18th club, whose next?

I much prefer PNG on their own. They shouldn't be lumped as part of a PNG-Pasifika frankenstein type of a club. In the initial stages, I much rather see a PNG side based in Cairns and play their home games in six blocks of two, two home games at a time to cut down on travelling and spend more...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

If it was a simpler roof design to begin with, then, if needed, would be far easier to upgrade and increase capacity.

    18th club, whose next?

I just missed that era where Waves and Splashes were the "go to" nightclubs. When I started to go out, Bourbon Street and Glasshouse Tavern were the "flavour of the month". But anyway back on topic, Perth should be number 18th.:p

    18th club, whose next?

From 1990-1994, the Steelers lowest ladder position was 9th. Then Super League hit in '95. As separate entities, the Dragons and Steelers were more competitive in the early to mid nineties than they are today as a merged club.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

It kinda feels like sabotage to the point of let's build a complicated said roof structure so that it would be very difficult to expand the grounds capacity down the track.

You look at AAMI Park in Melbourne. Did it really need a bubble roof structure?

    Time to restructure the JV

Steelers were only around for 17 seasons, the last four were Super League effected. Sure in it's first seven or eight seasons the Steelers did struggle. But that's not unusual for a new club. Making the mid week Panasonic Cup final in '89 was a turning point. From there, the Steelers were...

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

Just bringing in one team like the Dolphins hasn't created an extra game, but what you'll start to see is more Brisbane teams exclusive content on Fox. An example of that is yesterday with the two Brisbane teams only on Fox. It may encourage more Kayo subscriptions from Brisbane based fans.

    The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

Unfortunately it's not the right configuration shape for rectangular codes like league.

Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

As an ex Steelers fan such as myself, they should be untouchable for a fair while at least. Four teams became two. The mergers took place in the late nineties, and both the Tigers and the Dragons have won a premiership. Meanwhile your team hasn't won one since 1994. If the Tigers and Dragons...

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

Ratings play a part too. You look at NRL and Rugby. Both games go for 80 minutes. Should both get the same amount from broadcasters/providers?

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

The thing I'm concerned about relocating a Sydney team is you are giving GWS a chance to get a foothold of some sort, just like the Swans did with the demise of North Sydney from the top flight. If the midgets get a market share in Sydney, then the AFL could be considering a third team. As for...

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

I'll add a different perspective here. Qld now has four NRL clubs. In the AFL, WA and SA have two clubs each. Also the AFL has nine teams in Melbourne.

    RIP John Sattler

Condolences to Scott Sattler and his family. His father will always be remembered. Always sad to lose a legend of the game. A mighty tough rabbit. RIP John Sattler.

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

Pheuma is right, about a decade ago. For years, Fox would have one game at 7:30pm live, and the other, a full delayed replay at 9:30pm. Then came "viewers choice" where from the press of a button, you could choose which game to watch live from the two 7:30pm matches. Of course Nine had delayed...

    2023 TV/Fox/Streaming Ratings

Quarters would change the fabric of the game. A team could be attacking their opponents try line at 19min 40 sec mark with a full set. If Quarters came in, they would only have a couple of plays at best. The NRL could easily go to 20 teams with ten timeslots. On Saturday, the kick off...
